And with Arizona state taxes, the Suns offer is equal to the Rockets offer.

    Wrong.

Yeah, Lowry might have gotten traded, but Morey wasn't just gonna give Lowry away. As long as Lowry is on the team, Goran did not have a path to being the starter. Lowry was a borderline all star last year. Who knows how long it would take to trade Lowry. Could be this summer, could be at the trade deadline.

This...Dragic was going to be the clear starter on this team...Lowry was on his way out once the deal was finalized...Dragic...for his own personal reasons didnt believe that the Rockets were the best fit

Toronto has been head over heals for Lowry..and Reports were that the Rockets were looking to get a lot for him. Lowry was the trade piece that the Rockets had the entire offseason...He was the most valuable asset on the team. Lowry was as good as gone, and Goran knew this...

My guess is that the Rockets made it clear to Goran that they were trying to trade Lowry (not exactly breaking news there) and that if Goran signed here, he'd be the starter.

Certainly Lowry's comments earlier this summer seemed as if he understood he wouldn't be the starter here...that's why he was asking out.

When you offer someone a deal like Dragic was getting, the assumption is he will be the starter.

That is a dandy idea chief except Dragic gave the Rockets the right to match the offer and Houston declined.... sounds like he wanted to be a Rocket.

it looks like raptors has no many options but trade for lowry. nash's gone. kidd looks like will stay with mavs. felton could be with knicks and dragic signed with suns. lin who may potentially be a good starter is left on the market.

Had Dragic signed with us, he would've been the starter. You can't make a good argument to the contrary.

It wouldn't take long to trade Lowry. There are suitors right now for him. Toronto? Portland? With Jrue Holiday wanting the max, maybe even Philly would want Lowry.

Uhhh... Ok. Is Lowry still on the roster.... Check

    enough said.

There obviously was no deal to be had on draft night, and hence the Rockets are not going to move Lowry for nothing. If Dragic is going to sign with Houston there is a good chance that Lowry will still be on the roster at the start of the season. If you think for one minute that Lowry isn't good enough, or have a big enough chip on his shoulder to at least challenge Goran for minutes then you must have a short memory span that doesn't go back past March.

Again, I think Goran made the smart move to go where he is guaranteed to be the man, and have the keys to the car to himself.

    Sounds about right.

The Rockets had/have flexibility in their direction based on how the FA season goes. If Dragic was willing to take their offer, they were willing to move Kyle (even if it was for less than they had hoped). He wasn't willing to take it, therefore they no longer will need to move Kyle.

Now we have to wait and see with Lin. If he bites, Kyle is gone. If he doesn't, Kyle and Kevin will have to smoke peace pipe and then Kyle will get a reasonable contract extension. We should end up with a good young point guard no matter how this stuff plays out.

The crucial fact that you're overlooking is that Dragic has already lived in Phoenix for 2.5 years and built a life there.

There was nothing to keep him in Houston except more money, and the Rockets weren't willing to pay it.

Lowry was reported to be shopped heavily on draft night, which is the 2nd busiest trade deadline to the actual trade deadline. If they weren't able to get a deal done for him then, then what would make you think that there are suddenly great deals for him to be had before February??? What team do you know of that is reported to be desperate for Lowry, and actually has a package of assets to give Houston that makes sense. Making sense being key.

We all thought Lowry was a goner draft night. He's still here. Lowry was a border line all star last year. As long as he's on the team he's starting. How much did Morey pay Lowry to be a back up to Brooks, in comparison to Brooks' salary, as he waited for the right deal to deal Brooks? Goran wants to be a starter from the get go. He's not that, currently, with Houston

If you're on the market for a new house, do you sell & move out of your old house before buying a new one?

McHale thought that both Lowry and Goran played well together...if both were on the team...minuted would not be an issue...PLus...McHale had Dragic starting and had Lowry come off the bench...The Job was his too lose...
