And why was Lin on our training camp roster to begin with? Because Morey and crew recognized he was a talented point guard and wanted a better look at him. Lin just didn't manage to beat out Lowry and Dragic - two outstanding point guards. So there was no place for him here and he was cut.

You and I both know that the Lin flirtation is all Les Alexander driven..... Morey does not want Lin and knows the Knicks would match in a heart beat...

After Gilcrest went #2 in the draft (the Rockets crush) it has been obvious the direction Morey wants to go..........

Why do I type.... after every sentence.....

    Damn you RocketRiver......

The Max Dragic can get is 8.5 mil per year with the Suns and 8 with the Rockets...In basketball terms there is no difference btwn the 2 offers...None...And the Rockets were able to offer a 5th year! He didnt see him self here that long...Just imo

i believe there are more than 2-3 mil difference at the negotiation btw rox and dragic. some other issues could be there but no one knows. it's tough to believe at one negotiation meeting, rox's already realized dragic was gone.

looks like you have comprehensive problem. i tried to disqualify what woj reported and what dd believed. dd believed rox is cheap and rox couldn't give 8.5 mil. it is not true.

what i believe there were more than just 2-3 mil difference (see my other post)

"Didn't see himself here long term" because.... he didn't like the organization, and the coach??? Since he went out of his way to express how much he loved playing for McHale, and the organization????

Or... Maybe its because he's not guaranteed a starting position going forward??? Just my thoughts here, but that makes much more sense than going against what he personally stated time after time about his affection to stay in Houston.

Not sure why this is being made so complicated. Its really not. In Phoenix, he's the man. The team is his. In Houston, he's got to beat out Lowry. I personally would go to Phoenix myself if I was in Goran's shoes for this reason alone.

As a not 6'9" power forward, dragic felt that he would be an odd fit on the rockets roster, my sources have told me.

    In your statement you said

"I have a very strong feeling he doesn't want to play for rox. otherwise, he has no any reason to refuse the exact same contract but to take other one."

So, its not financial to you. I agree with that. To you, I take it that its a preference. Ok, I agree with that, but you are hinting at different reasons than I am.

I agree that its not financial, but I believe it has to do with the assurance of being a starter. All implications, statements, and photographic proof showed that Dragic loved Houston, their coaches, and the organization.

what you said could be one of factors in the negotiation meeting. no one knows. but obviously, rox at some point will trade lowry. probably he wanted this written into the contract which rox may refuse to do. have you ever heard a contract guarantees starting position? with 8 mil contract, it's tough for rox not to play him at starting pg position unless he turns out not that good.

Dragic wasn't promised a starting job in Houston. He is in Phoenix.

well that's unfortunate. Now it's just awkward with Lowry. I think they can put differences aside and play but you lose you best trade piece in Lowry...and even if you do trade him you have to find his replacement.

I just don't understand why they would offer lin $10 per and not match Dragic's deal, which isn't too outrageous

You're right, it's about being named the starter. It doesn't make sense for the Rockets to lowball Goran, and then splurge on Lin. The offers to both are pretty much the same, and the Rockets offer to Goran was pretty much the same. The difference is, Lowry is still on the team. Morey couldn't guarantee a starting gig, since, who knows when Lowry will get dealt. If at all. Lin is ok coming off the bench. Goran is not. The 4th year player option PROVES this. He didn't get his 10M per year, but with Nash gone, hes guaranteed to start and big minutes in order to show case himself. If he lives up to the hype, he will decline his player option after year three and cash in on another big deal.

    Wrong.

Dragic knew that if he stayed here, he would've been starting. Everyone in the league knew that Lowry was on the trading block, there were definitely suitors for him, and the Rockets wouldn't have offered Dragic 8mm (significantly more than Lowry is making) to come off the bench behind Lowry.

And of course Dragic is going to go out of his way to act like he loves Houston. He wanted the Rockets to pay him 10mm. So what does that tell you when he accepts 7.5mm (with an extra 1mm in incentives) to play in Phoenix?

Obviously, he would rather be in Phoenix.

Oh man. $10 per? No wonder they left.

But nah, Rockets never offered Lin 10 million per. It was 4yr/30m. And they can't match since Dragic is unrestricted.

Either way, it wasn't about the money. The PG situation in Phoenix is what drew Dragic.
