back to the Mobley stuff again.. did y'all forget what Mobley did for the
Rockets.. he completely destroyed them on defense and on offense..he SUCKED!!.. The day that we got rid of him (and got T-mac)was the best day in Rockets history after the day they drafted Hakeem.. we dont want a Mobley kind of player..Mobley is not good..I know he can shoot, but he cant do anything else..actually, if you think about it, he has a negative impact on the team he is in (turnovers, slower play, bad passes, poor post passing, poor ball-handling....) .. and as much as I dislike Mobley, I think he is still better than HEAD because they are exactly the same except for 1 thing: Mobley can hit his Jumper, head cant.. Mobley has an "OK" release, Head lacks the fundamental of the jumpshot and it's almost impossible for anybody to fix that problem...

I think you forgot to put a big grin at the end of the post, because the Mobley you pictured wasn't the Mobley that the Rockets traded to get T-Mac. He played good defense & was a good offensive(if somewhat streeky) shooter.

Luther: 6-7 behind the arc against GS.

If he can do that on a consisten basis, we've found our starting SG and possibly our third option.

Aren't you making the argument that just because someone scores less and shoots worse, they are automatically a worse player?

I was clearly not making that argument. Read the original post. I said that they were comparable; Head has had an equivalent season to Stoudamire, the #31 pick, which supports the argument that Head has been OK but not great. Also, the numbers show that Stoudamire is a more efficient scorer.

I still don't get why you hate Luther so much. When he was drafted, you actually went so far as to literally call him a piece of crap, IIRC. It was the same thing when Clarence Weatherspoon was here.

What did Spoon and Head ever do to you?

Luther Head was an OK pick. Somewhat exceeded my expectations. At the time I was one of the few who was disappointed as I was hoping Francisco Garcia would fall far enough.

My argument was (and still is) that a #24 pick is a risk and if you take a risk, you risk for a bigger rather than smaller (under-sized) player. I never liked the prospect of Simien but would have liked to see what David Lee would have done. By drafting Lee, we probably wouldn't have signed Swift. And that in turn would have made us focus on PG or SG in free agency.

Oh, well...water under the bridge....looking forward to this years' pick.

there we go again.. now that he had a good game against the WArriors, everybody forgets his SUPER slump that lasted 60 games and hasn't ended yet.. but you know what, like you said, if he can do that on a consistent basis(more than 40 percent from 3 ans less turnovers) I would keep him and make him my 3rd option right away.. but I doubt it seriously.. :D

I want to see Luther on the floor shooting those bombs from the PG spot, with another 6'6" shooter at the 2 spot, TMac at the 3, Yao at the 5, and a banger like Shelden WIlliams at the 4.

I think alot of u are forgetting van gundy said he probably wouldnt of got much playing time. if we were healthy he never would of seen much of the court and he probably would of struggled to even be in the nba for the next few seasons, but he got time and has shown glimpses here and there that he can play, with this season under his belt and this off season to learn and improve from this season, u'll find head will be a valueable contributor next season

I would love to see the rockets pull a Sheldon Williams out of this draft, but Im afraid he will climb up the the draft board the closer we get to the end of June. For lack of high schoolers in this draft and if he measures 6"9 or taller. He is one of the few players that could help a team right away and he would be a nice compliment to Yao.
Draft Sheldon Williams then trade Juwan Howard in some sort of package deal for whatever hurts your salary cap the least.

Noah and Burleson aren't declaring, so Sheldon Williams might be gone by the time we pick.

Yeah I think he will have a good year next year and be a solid contributor.

I also hope we get a top 10 draft pick.
Then next year should finally be the one.

I kind of figured that the Rockets didn't take Taft or Simien or someone like that because they had already targeted a PF (probably Swift) through FA. Lindsey said that drating Luther would make more sense in the future, or something to that extent.

I'm not sure I understand though, didn't you badly want the Rockets to sign SS?
