I say wait till the deadline and see how he responds and plays. If he plays great and we're a top 5 team by the deadline, keep him. Its a win-win situation because his CONTRACT will expire after the season. But if there is a TRADE that is amazing for us, we have to do it.
I always imagined that if we made a deal this off-season T-mac and Brooks would be traded together. Now it seems that it could be separate deals if they both end up gone.
Exactly. That's how I feel. If he comes back strong and plays well, he can only help this team. If he sucks, just trade him by the deadline. We have Nothing to lose. That is exactly how I feel. Great post
I can agree with that as well. His value can't get any worse than what it is currently and the closer we get to the end of his contract his stock increases accordingly. Unless a decent/good deal comes up I don't mind him sticking around. And NO Larry friggin Hughes type proposals.
Are you kidding me!!!!!! We lose 24 million dollars in which we can basically sign anyone we want or resign some of the key players that's already on the roster. Also guys may not agree with me on this but I believe if you trade McGrady ( one injury prone player ) we need to think about Yao's future ( another injury prone player ). The Rockets were so blessed that if Yao went down then McGrady was able to carry the team. McGrady went down Yao was able to carry the team. Now the thing is if McGrady is traded and Yao goes down ( God forbid ) then this team is in trouble. If you guys honestly believe that what we say can really happen again then I say you guys are crazy. Without a legit star this team is lost. Von Wafer?? hahaha i say he was a one season wonder. Ron Artest??? he was so so but I believe he played for a contract and now that he is about to receive what he wants now lets see how his attitude is. If McGrady is traded then The Rockets are basically giving up and starting over. Rumors are going to fly like crazy but I honestly don't believe they would be that crazy to trade a huge expiring contract which runs out. The way the economy is I doubt teams will do that much trading anyway.
A team that went 7 games in the second round with an NBA champion without McGrady is giving up if they don't hang on to McGrady?
I like most of your proposal except for including Scola in the deal. If we trade him we lose half of the Rocket's enormous heart.
I agree we need someone who can attack the basket, but Rip would be perfect in this offense. He moves well without the ball which is something we need. That is a big reason I would be willing to trade Tracy at this point. Tracy needs to dominate the ball to be effective, which bogs down the offense. I get the feeling Morey is going to land something big with Tracy's contract included. And I for one can not wait to see what it is!!!
Well if McGrady isn't here and Yao ( God forbid because of his foot) is out for the season this team is DONE!!!!!! If you believe that without No Yao and No McGrady, to have the team we had against the Lakers during games 2-7 will even make the playoffs then sir your living in a fantasy world. If i recall the team that went 7 games in the second round was abused because of height issues. This team that you talked about making it to the second round probably wouldn't have made it out the 1st round because of height issues.
If you are talking about the Bill Simmons trade I think that was crazy! I want cp3 as bad as anyone, but that trade completely gutted our team. I think he was just throwing something out there that worked dollar wise. If you could get Paul for less which would obviously be tough, im all for it.
And what happens to the team's chemistry from the get go. How often do we have to go through chemistry problems before we fully excise the largest cancer in the team? Do we ever learn from this guy's past, the whole decade that passed to be exact? What else does McGrady have to do to prove his poison? Come on guys and gals how much more pain on the Rockets, and especially the fans, should be inflicted by this player?
I'm not overlooking the hard work and over achievement, but you're right. Teams like Utah and Dallas present matchup problems for us. Even the Lakers did to quite an extent. Kobe,Gasol in particular and Odom/Ariza to a lesser extent. If it wasn't for Brooks vs Fisher we would have had a terrible time. Farmer gave him some difficulty. They won their home games against us with or without Yao by big margins.
Hey, we were known to have probably the best chemistry while winning 22 games in a row and remember, Tracy was a part of that team.
Important points,we still need to be patient to get the "best" possible deal for him.Taking back junk won't help either.I know his expiring contract won't save us anything, but I would rather let it expire than do a bad deal.
I would rather have richardson than barbosa. I would rather have 4 explosive guys playing putting pressure on the defense.
