It's not the same thing. The Rockets didn't slip into the playoffs as the 8th seed like Atlanta did. Nor did Houston face a team in LA that was short on playoff experience like Atlanta did vs. Boston in the 1st round of the playoffs last season. The Rockets were a consistently good to great team all season. They turned it up in the playoffs and soundly beat Portland in the 1st round and turned the intensity up even higher and gave LA all they could handle. If it was only about matchups (like GS vs. Dallas or Atlanta vs. Boston) why did the Rockets win 50+ games and roll through a Portland team that was supposed to be second best in the West and challenge LA? Thanks for trying, Sport.
Thats why we would get the 2nd or 4th pick. Those are the only picks worth trying to get, any higher then that it isn't worth losing Brooks for. Even the 4th pick in my opinion isn't worth losing Brooks unless they want to throw in Kevin Martin.
It sounds you have a lot of experience about it! Don't be afraid! My job is about human brain. I can help you!
Well, maybe MONSTER is relative to the player. 19.5 and 7 on 58% shooting is a monster year for a career 13 and 5 guy. By comparison, that's like Mcgrady going off for 32/8/6 next season. By anyone not named Lebron that is an incredible season. But I get your point. A trainer can only improve on what a player has inside of him, he can't make him what he never was.
I was ecstatic when TMac came to Houston, and I will be ecstatic when he is gone. It is not about the nagging injuries. It is not about his overall play; at times he was fantastic. It is about TMac, the person, the attitude, the demeanor. It has never made sense to me that you could really build a winner around two often injured and relative passive though talented players. Ultimately, it is TMac's lazziness that has fans like myself wishing him out the door. I wish him well, I hope he gets well, and once again, plays well, somewhere else.
IDK if you was serious with your post or not but anyone with common knowledge would know that Yao and McGrady wouldn't have turned out to be the next Kobe and Shaq. As for T-Mac being traded to the Knicks. HAHAHAHA you have got to be kidding me. You must not watch a lot of knick games. Trust me. Living in NY and watching nothing but Knicks and Nets games I would stay away from anyone on the knicks. The only player I would take is David Lee and Chris Wilcox. Those 2 alone can't be brought here with McGrady's contract. As for McGrady being a win win situation for both teams. HAHa thats another laugh. A win win would be just letting this whole thing ride out. He plays his butt off for a contract here or somewhere else. We get a high quality player, a huge expiring contract, and another deep run ( hopefully ) for the playoffs. You do not just trade a player just to trade him. Especially to the Knicks where you will get nothing in return.
I would love to get the 4th pick and Kevin Martin too. But, who are the fillers? Hopefully, the kings won't give us too many garbage contracts!
NO. Do not trade knee-mac. His contract is expiring, and we should let it play out. At the very least, if he comes back completly healthy and contributing, then we have a super star. If he is hurt, then sit his @$$ down and offer 20 million dollars to someone next offseason. I guarantee you that we will be one of only a few teams willing to spend that kind of money. I dont want michael redd or rip hamilton or ray allen. We need another superstar, not star. FYI- all you Dwight lovers/Yao haters, how did that feel? where was his dominance? when did he take over? If you dont know what your talking about, then dont talk. This game is and always will be about skill, not size. Who makes 10+ million a year playing basketball and not make layups( or free throws, and any shot past 3 feet)?!?!
This would be great news, if true. Go get er done Mr. Morey. For once, in a very long time (almost forever), let us have the fun and pleasure to watch the Rockets without prima donna's at the start of the season. That would be really really refreshing.
Unless there is no market for T-Mac or the Knicks pony up real assets, I don't see him getting traded from Houston to New York. What happens with T-Mac this season is going to be real interesting. If the Rockets do trade him, they are looking for players or assets. There's no real benefit to trading him otherwise. They're a contender. They want players who can help them contend, so it's not likely that any other contender that wants T-Mac to help them is going to give up immediate assets. So the Rockets likely target teams like Golden State, Phoenix, Charlotte, Detroit, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Sacramento, Indiana, New Jersey, etc. -- Houston gets talent (signed beyond 2010) and those teams get out from under longer, more expensive commitments. BUT, if the Rockets do a deal like that, the NBA market for T-Mac changes. Suddenly T-Mac is owned by a team motivated by money and future. Since a team like that would be taking him on for cap savings, McGrady suddenly becomes a great "second trade" candidate, similar to 5 years ago or so when Portland sent Rasheed Wallace to Atlanta, who in turn flipped him to the Pistons for similar expirings and cash/pick(s). They likely wouldn't need him (and T-Mac probably wouldn't play there anyway), so they can flip him to a contending team for the same expiring value + an asset of some kind. Teams like Cleveland, New York come to mind here. Or the team buys him out, and teams like the Lakers, Mavericks and Celtics could try to get him on the cheap. All depends on T-Mac's rehab and timeline, but I could easily see him being a part of 3 teams between now and February.
clutch hits it on the head. i can EASILY see him going to cleveland sometime next year through a deal like that. why? 1) cavs play a halfcourt offense, which fits tmac. 2) cavs need size on the perimeter, which tmac provides (that was exposed v. the magic) 3) cavs need another playmaker, which fits tmac. but like clutch said, we're already a contender. we need guys who can contribute IMMEDIATELY, not draft picks or future talent. hopefully morey will capitalize. next year is CRUCIAL for this organization in terms of taking a step forward.
Which is why phoenix and gsw makes the most sense. Tracy, scola, and barry/lowry/hayes for amare and richardson or tracy and barrry for jackson, turiaf, and maggette. Its not that hard.If u do the phoenix deal, let ron walk and resign wafer, if u do gsw deal u let ron and waferr walk.
TMac as Lebron's backup? Then there might be 5 minutes PT per game. TMac at 2 and Lebron at 3 playing together? It's really hard for me to see it even happens.
There will be a lot of rumors out there with McGrady's name but let me tell you something, he is STAYING in H-Town. Just belive me and chillout
Would you do a trade of McGrady, Landry and Brooks for Stoudemire and Barbosa as Clutch mentioned in his article "Top 5 teams for Rockets to plunder"? Tracy, Scola, and Lowry is a bit much but I guess you give a lot to get a lot.
