i'm guessing if there were alternate jerseys, we'd know that by now. there'd be a picture in the chronicle, at least.

I'm fairly sure that the surprise was Van Gundy's "special announcement" about the 30 season tickets (which he purchased himself) that they are giving out to fans. We already knew about this before the draft party though. Apparently the team will be organizing a date and time for fans to come, suited up in their best rockets gear/war paint, and "try out" for a season ticket...located behind one of the goals on either end of the court. From what I gathered, Van Gundy will be making the selections himself.
This reminds me of that episode of The Office where Michael refuses to be the "bad guy" and won't re-work everyone's health plan...so he makes Dwight do it and then tells everyone he has a surprise for them at the end of the day...and of course, there is no surprise.
Someone said it was JVG giving away some season tickets to the rowdiest fans. If that's not it I'm thinking everyone left in anger before they could unveil it.
After they have make that draft day trade, now I'd say this prediction is 'extremly unlikely to happen' instead of 'impossible to happen'.
