whiteside has actually dropped down in a lot of mock drafts for some reason. i would love to take him if he is still there. Larry Sanders won't be great too.
We've already had a couple threads on this but whatever, I hope we end up with Donatas Motiejunas. He's a project but he could be HUGE for us in the long run. I would LOVE to see how he develops with our staff and Yao giving him a few pointers.

http://www.nbadraft.net/2010mock_draft Whiteside 11th pick http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2010/ Whiteside 18th pick Many teams projected in the top 10 feel his to much of a gamble(high bust potential) to take him that high, So there's defenitly a possibility that he is available at our possible position...11 -13th pick!!! --RB
Ekpe Udoh. If you haven't seen him play you can't understand how dominant he is for this Baylor team. This SAME Baylor team got to finals of NIT last year (and only got into NIT due to some lucky breaks in Big 12 tourney). Adding Udoh has made this team a national championship contender. Guy is a baller, a much higher BB IQ with similar strengths to Eddie Griffin. Has good shooting range, amazing defense (esp. his shot blocking), and if he works on his post moves (and offense in general) given some variety he could become dominant.
To me its down to Motiejunas and Whiteside. While I love Whiteside as a prospect, I don't feel comfortable knowing that he's playing at such a small school. Still if Whiteside does pan out, the reward could be HUGE for us. I guess we'll know more about those of them once the lottery passes. Now that Monroe is considering staying at Georgetown, Udoh wouldn't be a bad backup plan but he's nothing more than that. Jan Vesely is another prospect I like that not too many fans bring up.
Landry wasn't from a big name school either. Morey's moneyball stats had him projected higher than the bigger players and big schools, so he took him. Morey's adjustements for small schools might be even better, now that Morey has a few years experience.
Rockets are in the 13th spot with only 1.5 losses ahead of Memphis. Memphis likely loses the game against GSW and reduces the lead to 1 loss.
Purdue isn't exactly Division III. They're in the Big Ten conference and made 24 NCAA tournament appearances.
Purdue is not a big name school? Purdue has won more Big Ten titles than any school in that conference. They may not be Duke, UCLA or Kentucky, but hardly a small school
you guys are overhyping Whiteside.. yes he has potential, but he's also has a high bust potential. He played in Conference USA... a conference full of SCRUB big men. Whiteside was shut down by Jerome Jordan. Jerome Jordan is considered to be a 2nd round pick in this draft. Whiteside reminds me a lot of DeAndre Jordan. DeAndre was considered a lottery pick and hyped up before the draft because of his amazing potential and athletiscim. DeAndre was also a freshman.. he ended up slipping to the 2nd round. Also, we already have a high potential big man in Jordan Hill. IMO, the Rockets should go for players like Aldrich, Monroe, or Udoh. All 3 have played in power conferences and have played against NBA level talent.. They don't give you crazy potential like Whiteside, Favors or Cousins, but they are solid players who are NBA ready.
