We didn't win nothing with Mario and always battled for last place in the division with Mario and you say "he was the right pick." Lol... I guess that's enough gratification for some Texans fans.
Ok cool, then darko is better than lebron, oden is better than durant if the heat go far this year, robert horry is better than michael jordan, dan marino is worse than every qb that has won a superbowl......the list goes on. Just by judging their contracts and the fact that young isn't in the league tells you all you need to know.
I never said "who was better." A poster said the Texans made the right choice with Mario and I said that question is hard to answer if you have a big picture point of view (considering the Texans never had success with Mario). You guys are the ones who are arguing over who was better. I never even spoke on that topic.
With Logan I can see TE more so the in the NFL. They will probably give him a chance at QB and then hit him with the "you got a better chance at getting on the field at the TE position". Our TE depth chart is at 3. Graham, Griffin, and Supernaw, I would take flyer on Logan in the 6rd knowing that you can look at him in possibly 2 different positions. I'm sure it won't be the first time he will be asked do you want to play TE. I rather take a flyer on Logan Thomas than that Savage kid I don't see him or Logan being above 5th round picks.
I honestly see this as mixed. A smirk would generally say he is covering something. I hope he is, if the Texans don't end up with JF or JDC, I will be upset, too often we have boring players and this has gotten us nowhere so far.
The relevance of the debate is your opinion... All I said is looking at the big picture it's hard to say Mario was the right choice. And that's just my opinion because I judge teams by wins and loses. You and the other posters are the ones beating your chest about Mario is the better player which I never argued. But so what...!!! We still had a losing record with him. And so does Buffalo.
TJ Rushing got drafted by the Colts in 2006. Colts won Super Bowl in 2007. TJ Rushing should have been the first pick.
No matter how many times people poke massive holes in the "logic" of "justwinz" it'll keep showing up time and time again.
Thats nice. I would think most people judge teams that way. But the topic is judging the individual players
They drafted Houston's own Joseph Addai in the 1st round. Why didn't you use him for your analogy...??? Lol...
Joseph Addai has more Super Bowl wins than Barry Sanders, Ladanian Tomlinson, and Adrian Peterson combined. Joseph Addai > Sanders + Tomlinson + Peterson
The original post I responded to on page 5 by Mr Meh _ mentioned nothing about who was the best player. So that's not what I was discussing.
This isn't about years, it's about wins/losses. Addai was on a Championship team. He's one of the GOAT. Sanders, Peterson, Tomlinson, Dickerson, Marino, Butkus, JJ Watt, Randy Moss and Bruce Smith all stay awake at night wishing they could have had the NFL success of Joseph Addai.
Clearly this post is not about who was the better player. This is the post you originally responded to and somehow you devolved this post into judging the team
Yea, but this discussion was about players in the 2006 draft and how successful the teams were/weren't with those players. Players the Texans actually had a chance to get... Unlike Barry, AP, LeBron, etc.
In the post he said their decision turned out to be correct. And my response was looking at the big picture it's hard to say if they were correct considering we were always at/near the bottom of the division. Simple as that. I never said who was better or the Texans were right or wrong. You guys (not you in particular Rick) took that in ran with it.
Yeah, he was better, and was the right pick. Again, none of these guys are guaranteed to turn around a team by themselves. I'd rather have had the chance with Mario (and had they had a real DC for his Texans career, things likely would have been different... and you saw how big of an impact Wade had in the turnaround). I can also say that I was happier with Arian vs. whatever Reggie Bush may or may not have provided (and given his 3 different stops and counting, he'd likely no longer be a Texan)... and I'm also happy to have avoided the VY saga, and its predictable/reproducible ending no matter what team he was on (i.e. - he was too dumb to be a long-term starting NFL QB). So both in foresight, and in hindsight, Mario was the better pick.
