That is the only way choosing these players makes any sense.

We really can't fully evaluate this draft until training camp starts. The playres drafted last night may not have been intended to address our needs, but to help facilitate ohter trades that will. With that said, while many teams were shedding payroll and selling off picks, the Rockets went into the night with none and could not have been faulted if they came away with nothing last night. And while we we didn't fill our needs through the draft, we were predatory in buying up picks from teams who wanted out. This cost the Rockets nothing. Not players, not cap space, not luxury tax, not roster spots. The money came directly from Les and could not have been used in any other area of the Rockets' roster moves. $3 million is the max a team is allowed to spend on a pick. That is not going to get you much higher than #26 in any year. I'm not sure what quality of player people were expecting to get buy buying picks. And while the players we picked might not directly address team need, they have value. Had we tried to draft players that filled holes for us, it would have made them more difficult to move later.

Make no mistake, this was an very sucessful night. Now, for the rest of the offseason as we attempt to fill our needs we are not just dealing with Mcgrady's contract and players currently on our roster, but we have 3 extra pieces to bargain with. While they may not turn out to be anything more than Summer League roster filler, you cannot call the addition of these players to the team a C- or possibly a D.

A great draft because I think they are all going to be trade-baits.

I can't believe anyone would call this draft unsuccessful. The only possible way it was a failure is if that couple million causes Les Alexander to go under financially in the next three years. I'm assuming that isn't going to happen.

Given that, we got three guys who can be used in trades and who all have a shot at making the roster for ONE second-round pick. Even if all three blow out their ACLs tomorrow and retire, we only lose an early-50s draft pick.

I agree however if they remain a Rocket, I believe one or two of the picks become significant contributor in 2 years. Better yet, They might be like Landry who nobody expected to be a factor but was in the playing rotation during his first year.

I thought the rockets did a decent job in this draft. Once Rubio,Thabeet, and Hill were off the board I figured Buddinger would be our pick. The only players I honestly wanted after those 3 were gone were CB,Wayne Ellington,Daunte Cunningham, and Jeff teague. But hey Taylor looks like he could be a stud Buddinger brings some nice athletisism to the team and the foreign guy looks more talented then a lot of the foreign players the rox usually draft in the second. So all and all can't complain.

No god no....lol. What i was trying to say is that the rockets dont need size per se. What the rox need is length. You have some size up front in Scola hayes and landry. Theyre big guys. They're just not long enough to compete over a 7 game series with a gasol with a Odom etc. The rockets need to get length on the team. They need that hybrid 3/4/5, 6 foot 10 guy. it's probably they're biggest need this offseason. Which is why im praying for Chris Bosh this offseason.

Keep Budinger good size for a 2 guard at 6-7.... use Taylor and Llull as trade bait
