DD, why don't you own up to feeling like you boy Wafer is history based on who Morey drafted, and that's why you don't like his picks. Honestly, considering that we had no picks at all, we did pretty damn well, IMO, getting three talented kids with potential. If one of them becomes a good rotation player, this is a successful draft. If one becomes a future starter, this draft is sensational. We'll have to wait and see. Seems like you'd rather slam first and let the future fend for itself. I like the fact that we have some young talent that may grow into something we can add to the team.
Exactly. He bought 3 player for cash that comes out of Les' pockets. It has no effect on our cap space or luxury tax and we gave up no players to get them. All they can do is help us down the road by facilitating a trade or becoming productive players themselves. And if past history is any indication, they will become players that at least half of the posters on this board will deem absolutely untouchable within two years.
they're not projects, but they're not players that make us better than we were last year. hopefully morey can use these guys + tmac through a trade and get an impact player.
If we are able to get Amare, we will have to give up Brooks and Landry. Phoenix is looking for a young PG to take over the reigns for Nash, and Landry would be the replacement Phoenix needed for Amare. The fact of the matter is, we would either have to be willing to give up Brooks and Landry, or not make the deal at all. Anyways, as for the draft, I liked what we did. When I saw Taylor was still on the board at the end of the first, I was hoping Houston would swoop in and grab him. I'm glad they did. He's a scorer, and the Rockets can now let go of Von without worrying too much about it (not that Taylor is as good as Von, but he certainly has he potential to be better). I don't know anything about the Lull guy. Picking up Budinger was a nice twist. He's a low-risk, high-reward type of guy. Either he comes in here, works his ass off and gives us a solid contribution down the line, or he does nothing. Either way, we didn't pay too much for him, and he has the potential to be pretty good.
Actually Deckard, I think it makes White more expendable than Wafer, but if Morey drafted these guys because he might lose Wafer...a backup WING...then we are in trouble. We have bigger holes to fill.. DD
Come on, DD... Taylor and Budinger have "Adios Von Wafer" written all over them, at least in my opinion. If I'm wrong, I'll own up to it, OK?
See, I don't see it that way, a 2nd round pick may be insurance, but Von averaged 10ppg in the NBA......the NBA.....not conference USA.... I think these guys are trade chips, nothing more. DD
I think its pretty clear at this point that Golden State is going to end up with Amare, Kevin Martin anyone?
Tip Jar bet? $20 from you if one of them is on the team by the break. $20 from me if none of them are.
I don't see how 3 2nd rounders have helped Rockets that much when Cavs got Shaq, Magic got Carter, Spurs got Jefferson. Now we maybe #7 talent wise even if Artest is re-signed.
LOLWUT. Okay, let's see..... 1. Boston (if healthy) 2. LA. 3. Orlando(whom we still match up well against if Yao is around) 4. San Antonio (iffy, as I think Jefferson is overrated and people who think that this trade is comparable to the Gasol trade are complete idiots.) And then who else? Cleveland? Them getting Shaq isn't a big deal, as there is no way he can play playoff minutes at his age, and Cleveland is still basically utter **** outside of the King. And I can't think of anyone else who can regularly compete with us - maybe Portland or Denver, but not really. No reason to panic. We have plenty of time to make a good move and getting a player such as Amare or something like that.
I don't understand. It's a minor miracle that Morey managed to get 3 decent-iffy prospects without sacrificing anything considerable. These are the moves championship teams make. Not hefting out significant parts for the Rubios and Amares of this world. Seriously, why rush and destroy the team for upgrades on paper? This team is built to defy paper. It's all numbers and solid machinery. The Suns have a big 4 that paperwise should be championship material (+complementary pieces like Barbosa for s**** and giggles) but we all know how that ended up. And the Lakers looked so good on paper, but they kinda hit a snag against our little "midget no-name" team, didn't they?
I wonder how much they paid for the other 2? I know LA got 1.5 mil for the 42, so we're probably somewhere around 1.5 and 2.5. Any way you look at it that's more than 5 million bucks spent to buy 3 picks. Les is doing all he can to improve the team.
Budinger was definitely a savvy move, but passing up proven players in Sam Young and especially Blair... I don't know about this. I'd say a B- right now, but it could turn into an A if Taylor pans out, or a D if Blair and Young thrive in the league. Again, we shall see.
Why the hell is Boston first? Definitely LA, followed by the Magic. You have to put the Spurs and the Cavs up there now. Then the Celts. And then, maaayybee us and Denver.
