Perhaps, but coming away from the draft with Rick Fox incarnate two years in a row, especially when you're now talking about running/gunning, is a little hard to swallow.

He's a good player... but I'm hoping for someone else.

My gut tells me Big Baby is going to be this years Milsap from Utah. But it also tells me I've had one too many trips to the Pizza buffet so I'm not sure what to make of what I'm feeling. :D

My fear is that we draft Fazekas...remember Scalabrine guy in Boston? I think Morey is the one who signed him to a ridiculous contract...

With all of the talk of a deep draft I have really gotten my hopes up that we find a gem or even two (if we pick up an extra draft pick).

While I have probably engaged in more discussion about Williams and Fazekas, the player that really has me thinking he could be more imeadiate help would be Glen Davis (providing he keeps off the weight).

I'm not a big fan of McRoberts because I just don't think he is a very efficiant player but the guy does have what appears to be excellent passing skills and might shine in Adelmans offense.

Morris Almond is really a guy I like at 26 but I really want a PF. I would love Almond at 26 if it meant we were able to snag an established PF (troy murphy?) from a trade using Head and someone else. And then aquire a 2nd rounder to use on another PF.

Williams is the guy that scares me the most. Is he going to be a Dennis Rodman type player or a Stromile Swift type player? How would he fit into Adelmans defense. Will he learn how to rebound (something he did not do in college) in the NBA. Will he keep his focus on basketball? He is a guy that I would have very high hopes for but at the same time very low expectations. With all of the talk surrounding this guy I guess he is a 1st round lock but with his type of back ground and all of the question surrounding him I would be really dissapointed if we spent more than a 2nd on him.

I guess what would excite me the most would be to trade up in the top 16 picks and grab a someone that is a little more of a sure fire hit than anyone we would get at 26. I really like Acie Law or Tiago Splitter if we could move up.

With stars like TMac and Yao, I bet the management is going to push for solid veterans over high potential rookies. Stars don't have patience for rebuilding. That means no foreigners will get to play much, nor many college draft picks. I've personally seen McRoberts play at Duke for a while, and he will need some time to adjust.

I bet we will trade up and get a lackluster veteran PF.

I am on board with the thinking that he could turn into a real steal. He has great foot work, terrific strength and above average skills. He can rebound, play facing the basket or to his back to the basket and passes very well.

The only real knocks against him are his weight issues and that fact that he does not seem to get off the ground very well. Other than that he appears to have very good athleticism. I can't help but think if he continues to keep his weight off and hire a personall trainer then he could really increase his athleticism a lot and really become a special player.

There is just so much caution with guys like Glen Davis because of guys like Oliver Miller, Stanley Roberts and Robert Trailer.

it depends on who thet draft. before the 2005 draft cd mentioned getting a player who wouldn't contribute immediately. they tried to trade up for gerald green. when that didn't happen and they drafted luther head the said he was help that would contribute more quickly.

I'll be excited to get an explosive player of some kind at any position.
I'm scared of most of the people at our range, but I hope we press on and get the best player for our team whether that is a guard or forward or even center.

I keep wondering if sean williams is best served to be in his own backyard?
If Almond can shoot but NOT IN THE NBA!
If MCRoberts is too redundant on this team.

I SAY TO HELL WITH IT TAKE THE BEST OPTION POSSIBLE......I would love if we could give ATL a future pick and the 26 with alston and get either Josh Smith/Shelden williams and call it a night before it ever starts.....but then again Sura for a draft pick from a disgruntled team would be nice too in the great land of armchair point guarding.

Actually I like Big baby myself !! I know one thing Les knows he will draw fans just by having Big Baby on the team !! I remember two years ago when Texas had a real good team and LSU and Big baby by himself knocked Texas out of the tournement...I couldn't believe how quick and agile someone so fat could be but he was and he is skinnier now than ever !! 287 from 340

First of all Yao was hardly an obvious choice. There was a lot of risk in taking a 7'6 chinese guy who a lot of experts felt was too soft to ever make a difference in the NBA. Five years later, everyone says it was a no brainer, but there were as many if not more experts saying go with Jay Williams then go with Yao.

In 2003 we had only a second round pick, the 44 and ended up with Badiane. The only player drafted after him to have any NBA impact was Kyle Korver. Matt Bonner and James Jones have played, but hardly are solid contributers or future all stars.

In 2004 we only had a second round pick, the 55 which ended up being Luis Flores. We traded him for V-span, but you cant say that was a bad draft. We had no picks.

In 2005, we picked Head with the 24 pick. The five players after him were Johan Petro, Jason Maxiell, Linus Kleiza, Ian Mahinmi, and Wayne Simien. Head has contributed as much as these guys have. David Lee at #30 is the only player you might think could be an all star but it isnt like Head was a horrible pick.

And last year, we got Battier for the 8 pick. He was a solid contributor for us. Gay was never going to be the guy, and as much potential as people may think he has, there is no reason to believe he is surely a future superstar. Then look at the guys picked after #8. There is hardly anyone on there that did much last year, or even makes you think they are going to be great anytime soon. Patrick O'Bryant, Saer Sene, JJ Redick, Hilton Armstrong, I hardly think these guys would have been saviors had we drafted them.

Point is, it is very easy to say the Rox suck at drafting and will mess it up again this year. But look at the past few years and you will see, they havent truly botched any picks like Toronto picking Araujo, or GS picking Patrick O' Bryant.

Oh no! Win Now II !! If we had just not only been about the Win Now I of JVG, for the last 3 years, who despite that did not hang on to his job, we would be in a much better place.

I would say that we need to go for a Brian Skinner/Brendan Haywood type, but hang on to a draft choice.

Year after year for what seems like a decade, we seem to never have anything to trade, but the top two to three players.

As some have said, this is the time to buy some second rounders. We need to "luck" into some new younger talent or we could be near lottery bound if T Mac has to retire early.

I don't know if he had anything to do with signing him to a long contract but Scalabrine is a Morey type pick with a smart IQ,efficiant, good percentage player but with limited skills and athletic ability.
I was thinking tonight that Big Baby is the player he wants but you might be right about Fazekas. We have to face such high class PF's and with the possibility of KG going to the Suns it's going to get harder.

I just hope that the suggested trade of the Pick for Ike De Ogue-spelling! isn't true.
......................What a mistake for a new GM to make!
A player who can't make his mark on two bad teams!!!!
Larry Bird says, "OK it's about time we dumped him on the Rockets, they like other team's failures".
Sort of sounds like another Memphis scenario!!!!!!!!!!:p

I hope the ROX do not draft another big slow stiff in this draft. Fazekas would be drafting Steve Novak all over again. If so, the Rox will continue to be bounced out of the playoffs in the first round!

I feel that Morey will trade our #26 pick and some players for a solid PF. Maybe Diogu? I don'k know but I'm pretty sure that last year's situation will happen again tonight:)

Too all that replied to my comments: Yao#1, Go_Korea and Red Rowdy

I still believe Yao was the obvious pick over Jay Williams(not in league), Dunleavy(role player), Gooden(he's aight)........

Red Rowdy...All of the good picks quoted were all made in the late 90's

In 03- were is Badine now? Kyle Korver Matt Bonner and James all still IN the league.

In o4- at 55 dont expect much....Jury still out onVSpan. Well he play? well he be half ass?

In 05- Luther Head better than CJ Miles or Monta Ellis(you didnt check in 2nd rounf) Maybe Head is has a slight lead NOW but those guys were high schoolers so they need lil more time to develop....
    Arent we shopping Head now?

In06- Gay- good pick good trade ;) Novak-Hmmm cant card a chair? Paul Milsap and Daniel Gibson...Names ring a bell?

I understnad that no team can pick a good sleeper all the time given the scenarios of a given draft.

I just hope we can get a good solid pick for once since 02....Or do what weve done int the past and trade for a good PF!
