Yea, I believe Ray Allen was traded straight up for the #5 pick during the 2007 draft, so you can figure from there what its going to cost the rockets for a potential franchise center.

So that way we could get Bosh AND Whiteside and have OUTSTANDING length on the court at all times:

Yao / Bosh / Whiteside- 3 man rotation at C/PF, Yao about 25 mpg, Bosh 35 mpg, Whiteside 30 mpg
    Ariza / Battier
    Martin / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Let's be clear: we're not trading up for Toronto's interest in mind. There is 0% chance that is a real possibility.

If Bosh wants to play in Houston, he'll be a Rocket -- we don't need to make any trades to come up with a suitable SnT package for him. The Rockets going after Cousins, IMHO, is insurance in case they lose out on Bosh -- go after the star in the draft in case you can't land one in free agency.

Dampier (MSU days) and Cousins have similar skill sets and comparable athletic ability.

I like your attempt at thinking outside the box, but the problem is that we would have to overpay Minn to get the #4, then have to be able to match salaries for Bosh with Tor, all the while having enough of our core intact to be able to field a championship contending team.

so, in short, i think that's not going to happen. if Morey is going for the 4th pick, then he is certain that it will be Cousins or Favors/Turner at the very worst and he is consolidating our current assets.

If Bosh wanted to play in Houston, DeMarcus Cousins by himself would represent the best package Toronto could even dream of getting. You'd have to tack him onto Jeffries and another contract or two, but it's easily doable.

I could be wrong, but it may take Aaron Brooks plus players and picks to go up and grab that #4 pick this year.

I totally agree with this. Just Morey trying to hedge his bets.

If we do draft Cousins, what would he play? C or PF.

He is listed as 6'9.5" w/o shoes but makes up for it somewhat with a 7'5" wingspan. He also weights 290ish which makes me think that he'll be too slow to play PF.

What are his strengths and weaknesses? He's said to have good hands, nimble feet, so-so athleticism, and a temperamental demeanor. Good post moves, great rebounder, not elite defensively.

If we do draft Cousins, I wonder what that means for Yao? Although Calip did say that he was the most unpolished player and that he'd be an unfinished project that needed lots of nurturing. Is Rick that kind of coach?

Being reported before it happened ususally means the deal is dead.

Im going to chime in and completely disagree with your disagree. ;)

Rubio is an unknown period and Jefferson - good lord there can't be a worst fit on our team then Jefferson!

Anyone who thinks the Rockets would dangle K-Mart in a trade this summer is absolutely clueless. He's a key piece of the puzzle that they targeted and were lucky to get. Except for Yao, it's hard to imagine anyone they'd be less likely to trade.

Agreed. If Cousins is a franchise player, he's worth all of that. I'm not sold on Jordan Hill, Bud is a good player, but he was a 2nd round pick, the Knicks pick is likely end of the lotto or a mid rounder, and I like the #14 this year, but the player we grab is likely to be a bit of a project. If Cousins is a blue-chip franchise player, its worth giving up all that to get him.

Your right, but in my opinion the wolves will take nothing less than a kings ransom to give up Cousins. Khan wanted to run an offense with two point guards in Flynn and Rubio anyway, or they could trade Brooks elsewhere.
