The presumption that he has reached his ceiling is merely just that. A presumption.

Just like it is a presumption that a top 5 pick might work out... or might not. That's why people bandy around words like "unproven" and "risk".

    Exactly.

It is in Morey we trust. YOUR own personal valuation is that you would trade Brooks for the #5 pick. Morey's own valuation might be different from yours - he might think the #5 pick or any of the players outside of Wall and Turner are not worth trading Brooks. Best to wait and see.

This is just a question and not a personal attack by any means but how much better do you think Brooks can be? Can he turn out to be a Gilbert Arenas-type player and actually go from a low pick to a franchise player?

I'm only going by the rumors that were posted man. If the "Brooks to Sacramento for #5" rumor wasn't linked/added to this thread, I wouldn't even have thought that it could possibly be true.

yup, it is an intelligent insight that NBA experience trumps draft order. by your accounting Sam Bowie is better than Jordan.

    just stupid.

Fleeced? Petrie got 2 1st rd picks for artest and got landry for particpating in the houston-ny trade. If they continue to make the moves they are, they will be a force. Did i mention they can sign a max free agent?

Right because I said draft order ends up being the de-facto measure. If you had bothered to read I said that Brooks outplayed his draft position but is by no means a Top 5 selection even if you go back to that 2007 draft and redo it all over again. Which is what we were debating about: whether or not Brooks is worth a Top 5 pick this year.

If you want to take Brooks over Durant, Gasol, Horford, Noah, Green or Oden, be my guest.

Morey doesn't really fleece anyone. He figures out what a team is trying to accomplish and sees what he can do to benefit his team while helping them accomplish what they want. He maximizes his return very well, but it isn't like he tricks people.

I have a feeling no trades to move up are going to happen.

Brooks is worth the number 5 pick if its Cousins there still. I would do tha trade. Cousins being a low post scoring presence and rebounder would be more than a backcourt scorer who shoots too many threes. Okus that frees up what we can do with Scola and Yao and make them more tradeable too or Hill also in trades.
