It's not that hard to believe considering:

    1. Brooks is not worth a Top 5 pick

    2. With Evans, you pretty much need a point guard that can do multiple things (run off of screens, pass, shoot the perimeter shot, etc) since Evans will have the ball in his hands most of the time. Brooks can hit the 3 but there's no way a backcourt of Evans and Brooks can be successful.

    3. Morey has fleeced Sacramento the past couple of years so I'm sure Petrie is fed up with dealing with Houston.

That's bullcrap reasoning. The scouts obviously had it wrong when it came to Brooks. Marc Gasol was drafted in the 40's and I think he's easily worth one of the top picks. How many players in this draft do you think will be better than him? Or Brooks?

I agree you'd trade Brooks for the right player at #5...

BUT, the premise that it is because he was drafted where he was drafted...well, that doesn't make sense.

Manu, Gilbert, Mark Price, Dennis Rodman, Michael Redd, Toni Kukoc, Rashard, Jeff Hornacek...all second round picks that in retrospect have/had great careers and certainly great stretches of their careers that would make them worth of a #5 selection in certain drafts.

At this point morey has called enough teams that it wouldnt be too difficut for those on the inside to have an idea of his target. Other teams talk as well and can compare notes as to what Morey inquired about. they may even try to squeeze play him and get more out of him.

Although i agree we overrate our players at times, it doesnt make sense for you to say brooks would have been drafted higher if he was worth more....players develop differently from their draft ranking all the time. Should Bowie only have been traded for a better value than jordan would bring? Yes, it's an exaggeration, but it makes my point.

If Brooks goes anywhere we better have BIG plans. I'm talking Rubio plans. It took a long time for us to find a player we can count on like Aaron.

Brooks by himself is worth a 5th pick.

He's a sure thing compared to what you might get at 5, Brooks is a sure thing.

    2009- Rubio
    08- Love
    07- J.Green
    06- Shelden Williams
    05- Felton

IMO Brooks is better than all of those players.

If Im not mistaken, Petrie wanted Brooks in a trade several years ago his rookie or sophmore year.

I don't know about that, all depends on how a team values that #5 pick. So what your saying Brooks is worth Cousins.

How is it bullcrap reasoning? Because Brooks has exceeded many fans', teams', and GMs' expectations? Brooks has produced higher than what his draft selection was but if you go back to that draft, redo it over knowing EVERYTHING you know about that year's prospects and how they turn out now, do you STILL take Brooks in the Top 5?

    Here's a refresher:

    2007 NBA draft

If you want my opinion, the reorder would be:

    1. Durant
    2. Horford
    3. Noah
    4. Gasol
    5. Green
    6. Maybe Oden

So where does Brooks fall in a redraft? Top 10? That's debatable but Top 5? Hardly.

You forgot to mention Morey didn't draft those players.

How do you know Morey wouldn't have drafted Curry? Curry is better than Brooks right now and he's a rookie.

According to you guys, AB should be out of NBA right now. That says the knowledge of you guys.

I don't know when these haters could eat their crow while not talking about AB.

I'm sure that was when his stock was lower than it is now and that's when Tyreke Evans never existed in a Kings uniform.

Would you trade Brooks for Cousins straight up?

Some of you (not saying you) value Potential too much over actual value. Although Cousins talent wise may be projected as top 3 talent, he has a lot of concerns that many think will cause him to fall.

By the way, I would trade Brooks for Cousins...but for the 5th pick in the draft BEFORE the other four players are picked...and with a chance that Cousins go in the top 4? That's too risky especially the Rockets situation right now is not one of desperation.

You probably cried in the shower when Landry got traded.

You have to understand players have values and you can't allow your feelings to make talent judgments about players. When you can sell high It's best you do.

I love Brooks but if we can get something better for him then it's a good thing.

Who says AB is worthless? I said he's a good player but the way some here are scoffing at the notion that Sacramento can turn down a #5 for Brooks is pretty homerish IMO. Of course, if the trade was for Brooks and other parts and the Kings turned it down, then yea I could see how that could cause this kind of uproar.

That's a yes in my mind, but I would pause before I said it. The rule is you always go big over small, but you still have to make sure it's the right call. Love Brooks, but for Cousins, he'd be worth it.

I can't remember exactly, but it could have been when the rockets attempted to get Artest before the trade deadline.

Yes, i'm only showing the past #5 picks to show they are not always going to turn out to be superstars, none of those guys have had a significant impact in the NBA. The only one who has is Rubio and he could be a major bust or a major success with how international players have turned out in the top 5.

As a rocket fan I would take that all day, but Sacramento would have to have their head checked if they did that.
