If all these rumors are true (cousins, monroe, davis, favors), then houston seems pretty set on grabbing any top PF...That's not a Morey move...unless of course the asking price for someone else was "any top PF in the draft".....definitely sounds like he's trying to flip the selection, this isn't ours to keep folks....

I think one of those teams(#6, #7, #8) will take Brooks. If so that will be one deal done. I'm thinking Clippers at #8.
    FINALLY some Rockets news!!

this really isn't much news, it's still speculation really...plus the warriors and clips have pgs, they dont need brooks and therefore don't need to take him.

What do they Clips want with Brooks when they have Gordon and Baron Davis in the back court?

What do the Pistons want with another undersized scoring guard when they have the other Gordon and Rodney Stuckey?

The only way GS is trading their pick is if someone is also willing to take Monta Ellis' contract with it.

Because draftexpress thinks we want Cousins I'm almost certain we don't. If Morey really wanted Cousins with the 4th he wouldn't tell anyone that, he would just make it happen. This is just a smokescreen to either force someone else's hand or to get into position to do something else. Morey is wheeling and dealing as evidenced by all the chatter. What possible trade are the Rockets not linked to?! If we trade for the 4th I expect we'd flip it to someone else or get someone other than Cousins.

It's pretty funny to read the reactions of members. "OMG, why would they turn down Brooks for the 5th?! Brooks is worth MUCH more than that" Please. If Brooks was worth much more than a 5th pick in ANY draft, he would have gone much higher when he was drafted. There will be a ceiling to Brooks' production and I will argue that that ceiling has been reached this past season.

In the clipps defense, Gordon is more of a SG, and Davis is freaking old. So trading their 8th pick overall for a "MIP" in Aaron Brooks ... is a good move.

I'm just hoping that if we do trade with the clipps, we can take DeAndre Jordan off their hands. Something like:

    Rockets receive:
    8th pick
    DeAndre Jordan

    Clipps receive:
    Aaron Brooks
    NY pick(2012)

The last thing they need is a scoring point guard that can't distribute the ball to their best player. Hell, their experiment with an undersized point guard didn't go too well (TJ Ford).

IMO, moving from the 14th to the 10th is almost a wash and is certainly not worth adding another player like Brooks just to move up 4 spots since Brooks is 1. young 2. playing on a cheap contract and 3. has been injury free. I would gladly ship him off for a top 5 pick or as a package for an All-Star but to move only 4 spots up in a deep draft is not worth doing.

When he was drafted, no he wasn't, but now 3 years into his carreer, with a much improved game, he is more valuable than the 5th pick.
That MIP award carries alot of weight with it.

Hard to believe with Sacramento having Tyreke Evans. If true then maybe the rockets could draft Bledsoe at #14

Baron Davis is old but they still have to play him. Why? He's due $30 million over the next 3 years. Think the Clippers can afford to start Brooks over Davis (thereby driving down any trade value BD has)?

I threw Gordon in there is because if the Clips traded for Brooks and won't start him over Davis, would they start Brooks over Gordon? I highly doubt that. You run both Brooks and Davis together in a starting backcourt you would actually doing much worse than when you had Gordon/Davis

We wouldn't be moving from 14 to 10. we would get 10 and still have 14. Two lottery picks.

Hard to believe that Sacremento denied this.

They have committed that Evans is a SG and will be in the market for a PG...although I can understand that Brooks is not your traditional PG...a backcourt of Brooks and Evans is sick nonetheless.

Although hard to believe the Rockets would do that, I would believe it if Llull was coming over this year, but he's not.

Shane Battier, David Andersen, 14th pick for Monta Ellis, 6th Pick and Option to Swap First Round Picks in 2012 (top 1 protected).

It seems like GS doesn't get a ton of value there, but who is going to take Monta's $11 million for the next 4 years off their hands? No one.

That leaves the Rockets with their current squad minus Brooks and Andersen, and the #6 pick this year, the option to swap with the Knicks next year (top 1 protected), the Knicks 2012 pick, and the option to swap their own 2012 pick with GS's 2012 pick.

Of course, it's not my money that would be paying the luxury tax...it's Les'.

Wow. Really? I love Aaron Brooks. But, if I we had the #5 and somebody came calling us to see if we would give it up for Aaron Brooks, we would hang up.

If you're going to argue with me on the merit of an MIP award, I'd like for you to google the last 10 winners of the award. Then ask yourself how many of those award winners were NOT lottery picks. Then ask yourself out of those non-lottery pick winners, how many actually became All-Stars.

Brooks is a good player but he is by no means worth a 5th pick by himself.

I'm pleased that Brooks is on the market because Morey knows his value is at a HIGH.

Sell high and take your chances. I'll take a top 10 pick for an undersized SG any day.
