I have always been under the impression that this Sixer deal and the Minny deal were connected. Meaning that we would get #2 and trade it straight up for #4 and fillers possibly.

I can see how a #2 + some of our assets could be flipped for #4+Rubio.
Problem is that if we do a three way with Philly for their #2 and pick up Brand's contract, it is almost certain that Scola will no longer be a Rocket.
Also, I don't see why Khan would give up that much to get Turner.
But hey, it's an interesting wrinkle.

Why would Scola leave? Brand would be his backup.

Chad Ford say Sacramento at 5 is where the trading may start. "Sacramento isnt really in love with everything they have there." Also mentions Detroit trying to trade up and Indy at 10, who is looking for a PG.

He wouldn't. But our depth chart and salary for front court would look something like:

    Yao (17.6 mil)
    Brand (16)
    Hayes (2.3)
    Scola (~8)
    Andersen (2.5)
    Hill (2.7)
    #4 pick (3)

That's 50+ million in our front court. If we tried to match his salary, it would take Jeffries + Battier + another contract just to make it work.

    Here is your semi-new update:

Rockets still working to trade up:

Several teams say the Rockets are working hard to try to package No. 14 and at least one veteran to move higher into the lottery. "That's a fair assessment," said one GM. Plus, Houston has two other major chips to play with -- the right to swap picks with the Knicks in the 2011 Draft, protected for the first selection, and New York's 2012 first-rounder, both from the Tracy McGrady trade.

Interestingly enough, Ford says wrong team for Cousins and he could be out of the league in 3 years.

Maybe Morey can acquire one of those 2 picks that are up for sale(#18 & #19) or both and package them for another higher pick.

If Minn drafts Favors, would Brooks + #14 be enough to entire the Kings 5th pick? I'm not for trading Brooks but I feel like his deficiencies as a defender would be detrimental to our championship aspirations in the long run if he's our starting PG.

Sounds like Cousins is a prospect that will develop depending on the team that drafts him. I think it was Ford yesterday that said Cousins will need to be constantly babied throughout his first few years.

Tyreke is running that ship over there. Maybe they would take Brooks, not sure. Also not sure what their need is? Forward?

Where Cousins could succeed I believe. I dont think he was talking trade candidates but rather where Cousins fits in. Could be wrong on that though.

I guess the first name we'd think of is Battier, as the vet, but i dont know why a young team would want him, he's expiring, but i dont think the 7 mill is worth dropping 10 spots...but then again it doesnt specify if they want to trade up just to #4 or #5....i think they may be targeting someone right outside the projected 5 and just want to make sure they get him....

From the kings point of view, I think Brooks with his ability to shoot the three (most made in the NBA last season) and play off the ball to Tyreke would be the absolute perfect fit for him. It is also known that Sac has been coveting Brooks since the draft a few years back.

As for bigs, they currently have Dalembert/Carl/Jason/Brockman as their main rotation. I think they would prefer the #14 or one of our New York picks over Hill or a SF of ours.
