it's a deal with the devil for sure. you only do it if you consider favors or turner (whoever you draft) a superstar level talent. which would then beg the question, if a superstar level talent is available at #2, why wouldnt philly just take them and keep brand themselves?

This is the smoke screen, I'm sure of it.

Morey is after a top-tier PG or PF.

that bad contract is going to be an asset at some point. look at what Tracy's contract got us, absolutely pummeled NY.

there's a new CBA next year, who knows how things will work after that. it could or could not be an asset, and even if it is, do you want your team to be stuck with a massive amount of bad money again for the next 3 years? it took morey a few years to get rid of all the bad contracts he inherited from CD.

also, don't forget that the ONLY reason that morey was able to extort NY for ask much as he did is because of this FA class coming up July 1st. Unless you think there will be a bevy of teams wanting to clear massive amounts of cap room for the summer of 2013, Brand's contract would not have the same effect.

I`d be willing give up a whole a lot if it meant getting Rubio and Cousins. that`s for sure.

Yikes, something tells me that I am not going to like this deal. Assuming the Rockets' guy is Cousins then there is a good shot that he will be available. I have this sick feeling that the trade is going to involve Martin.

He is probably close....he will get more efficient and protect the ball more, but I doubt he increases his scoring all that much.

A quick note on Cousins weight...http://twitter.com/johnschuhmann

its also been reported that his body fat % has dropped to 14% from his reported 16.3% at the draft combine...

That is what is scary, can he maintain health, is he a dow jones body type, weight up and down etc.

And what happens if he doesn't play early in his career, will he be dedicated enough to keep the weight off when he has a lot of $$$ and players eat late at swank restarants?

I would include Lowry, AB and Rubio would be great in the back court together.

All of this may be true, but you are missing the main point. These trades would instantly make us a championship contending team again. Except this time we won't be so dependent on Yao.

the major concern though is - if the dude can barely get motivated now, when his entire future is on the line, does he have the right mental approach to succeed in the NBA? or will he be just another bunch of potential that never pans out?

the guys that make it in the NBA are the ones who choose to put the work in, the gym rats, the guys who love basketball. is he one of those?

what? brand makes you a contender? a rookie turner makes you a contender? i don't think thats true at all.

besides that, you'd have to trade away some of your current players to get thsi deal done, so you'd have holes to fill on the current team.

i think you're over reaching with the "championship contender" phrase, and very much so.

This indicates that Minnesota likes our offer better than Detroit's —*unless there's another deal out there that we don't know about.

Funny, no he is a good PG that can also slide to the SG, a versatile player.

Players that can do multiple things and play multiple roles are very valuable.
