I believe in the 2007 draft that Seattle traded away Ray Allen for the #5 pick Jeff Greene. At the time Ray Allen was averaging around 25+pts a game. Its very difficult to move up that high into the draft without giving up a major asset.

    Flying dildos awaayyyyy!

No but seriously they have Aminu dropping all the way out of the top 10 and to us at 14? I think that's kinda crazy and doubt that would happen.

Plus they have Tiny Gallon going at 30 in the end of the 1st, psshhh yea right. This time traveler is off his rocket. ;)

What, haven't you heard, the 19 year old overweight Cousins is the next Shaq.

    ;)

Cousins looks hungry to prove people wrong.

And I wouldn't mind having another bulldog on this team to run with our bowling-ball Kyle Lowry (who plays exactly like Bledsoe, so shouldn't be too different).

As one NBA executive said:"there are too many soft players in this league, not enough players like Cousins"

Aminu's drop would not surprise me. He is athletic and a decent wing defender but he can't shoot worth a hoot. As a PF, he is undersized ... a weiner tweener.

I don't believe anyone here is saying he's "the next Shaq." Some comparisons have been made with certain aspects of his physique and his game, that's all. Having said that, though, if he turns out to "blow up" after he enters the league, and not in a fat way, will you promise to video tape yourself eating your keyboard? You can use a hammer to bust it up into little pieces. :p

    Cousins himself somewhat did. :)

But in all seriousness, since I think I was the one who initially mentioned that, I'll echo your post and reiterate that I certainly wasn't calling him the next Shaq, nor was I saying his quickness was to the extent of Shaq. My point in the Shaq example was just to show that quickness for a big needs to be examined in the context of his strength, power and overall game - not in terms of measurables or how he runs the floor in a highlight video.

And yes, I was wondering how long it would take after the "Cousins looks hungry" post for someone to jump in...

I agree he would drop but do you think he would get past a Toronto or even the Grizzlies, they are in need of size and frontcourt help. I doubt it.

I honestly haven't seen much of Aminu's game but he seems like a Josh Smith 2.0 by all reports.

I guess that depends upon whether Hill and Cbud blow up too.

If it's going to take Hill, Budinger, and a slew of picks then we better haul more than the #4.

I'd rather pursue a trade with Philly, because by taking on Brand's contract we wouldn't have to give up as much, than what we would with the T-Wolves ...

I'm sure if that were the case Morey and Co. would have been jumped on. As stated above it probably depends on what happens early thursday night and who is left after 1-3 select.

So if DM is willing to part with the NY pick, is this a hint that he may have an inlination that the picks may have less value by the time that draft comes around. I mean they have to get somewhat better with all that cap space and all these free agents, but could this mean that he believes they have a chance at, at least one of the superstars/stars.

Morey is definitely looking for that franchise player in this years draft, hopefully he is on target.

What you would owe elton brand over the next three seasons . . .

    2010/11: $15,959,099, 2011/12: $17,059,726, 2012/13: $18,160,354

i think that's worse than giving up some young bench players to minny.

I hear you, but taking on Brands huge contract puts the rockets in a tough position to make anymore significant moves down the road.

if you are paying that much money to a 6'9" injury prone & declining power forward, its money you can't spend on elite talent to build a contender. I don't want to go through the tracy mcgrady years again until 2013.

that's probably the 2nd worst contract in the NBA right now, behind gilbert arenas.

I think you may be right, but if Les is willing to take on that contract, and hope he can contribute, while getting Turner...then I say go for it.
