Instead of Matt Harpring for back-up SF, I'd go after Rasual Butler. Consistent 3-point shooter, tall, young. Half of the MLE only though.

Forget guys like Q Woods and D Miles. They have attitude problems just like Stro. They are not going to change. Get someone who wants to be out there playing hard every night. Man, would B. Roy from Washington look good next to McGrady.

I like Brandon Roy too. He'll probably be gone by the time we pick, though. But great choice. Who would you spend the MLE on?

Seeing as this years draft is very deep in the sg/sf area and not so deep at pf, which are both glaring weaknesses for the rockets, heres how we should go about it.

draft a pf with our 1st rounder, preferably someone like shelden williams, bargnani or maybe even gamble on hilton armstrong.

with new yorks 2nd rounder, draft a swingman who can shoot. someone like hassan adams, mike gansey or allan ray.

Do you guys think that Chicago would take this:
Stromile Swift + Houstons 1st Rounder
    for
    Chicagos 1st Rounder?

I don't think that Chicago will trade their 1st round pick for ours + Stro.
The only team that I think would take Stro is New Jersey but in return we aren't likely to get much back from them.

i think we would be better served to trade this years 2nd round pick plus next years 1st for a mid 1st rounder this year. get sheldon williams hopefully with that pick and use our own 1st round pick on the best available SG. hopefully on all 4 year seniors so they dont maybe have as much of a transition to the NBA.

It depends on whether they think Stro can contribute. But why would we do that? They're only 1.5 games behind us. We may end up having the higher pick.

If you're talking about their NY lotto pick, I think they'd rather keep it. Stro isn't the kind of proven commodity you give up a top 2 pick for.

Pretty much what i've been stressing. This team needs guys that can get their own shot, defend and keep 2/3 from posting up. I think Woods would be just right. The Rox can get him for about half mle then use 1.1m for a backup to Yao on L.Woods or someone then trade Stro for Magloire and move Howard to backup role.

Why does this team need guys who can get their own shot? I think we need guys who are pure shooters so that when they are wide open it is guaranteed that the other team pays for the double-teams. We need a guy who can handle being wide open, some of those players who can get their own shot, actually struggle when they are given wide open shots to hit!

I think pure shooters are better able to deal with being left wide open, because they have so much better fundamentals, that they can rely upon when the pressure mounts to hit that wide open shot.

I also think it is an underrated skill set, being able to hit the shot when you are suppossed to, and jj has shown me enough moxi in college to be able to handle the pressure of the wide open 3 point shot.

I think LSU surprised Duke a little, they didn`t think LSU was that good, and didn`t bring their best game, and that`s how some of these lower seeds who put it all together towards the end of the season can surprise the UCONN`S and Duke`s of the world.

My conclusion after watching them beat UT, is that they play a weird style that is hard to adjust to the first time out! The way they shutdown the middle causes problems for offenses that are used to scoring down low with seemingly open shots. How many close dunks did McRoberts miss in that game, and look how UT`s best scorer became nullified by Thomas`s ability to intimidate the other team by coming out of nowhere to reject shots!

I think if Duke and JJ Reddick played them in 5 games they would win atleast 3 of them, and jj would have excellent shooting games in 3 of those, and what more could you ask for for the rockets in terms of a consistent outside presence. If jeff Hornceck (sp) can play that good for UTAH, in a system, I think JJ can be a positive net asset for the rockets with the 2-stars being constantly double-teamed.

yeh i was talking about the lottery pick. They would still receive a top ten pick from us, and stro in return for the 2nd pick.

Brandon Roy's not getting past Orlando. They desperately need someone like him. And McRoberts is definitely not going that high.

If Chicago takes Morrisson, then maybe we could get L. Dang on the cheap, or Atlanta can give us one of their redundant small fowards to boost our overall team depth issues.

Did some digging around on him. Looks like a great 2nd round pickup to me. His biggest downside is his weight ... he's going to get abused by bigger opponents until he puts on some size. But given his wingspan and high basketball IQ, he could easily make up for that. Looks like the kind of person I'd like to see coming off the bench for an offensive spurt.
