Damn! I'm sick of people saying this! It's just a nickname! Yao hasn't brought us a championship, let alone a Dynasty, and no one has a problem with him being called that nickname.

There's a lot of mention of FG%, FT% and the such like in this thread...

This is about clutch, guys! FG% means squat, FT% means squat. This is under pressure, game on the line, who handles the pressure best, who has the nuts to step up and deliver!

Now, is it about making a play, or about taking a shot? If it's a shot, then Moochie and Taylor deserve some props. Steve has made some reasonable decisions at the end of games (and some bad ones too). Cuttino beating Sprewell for a game-winning layin comes to mind as well.

All things considered, I'm going for Francis. Range of his jumpshot, can create off the dribble, finish in traffic, and can find the open man off the dribble.

Exactly Bailey, for proof, look at Vernon Maxwell's stats, and that guy was about as clutch as they come, but he is one of the worst shooters night in and night out, but I would take no one in Rockets history ahead of him to take the last shot.

Yao for a 3 point shot with Stevie driving to the hoop and dish out to Yao.

Ming. Why? He's has the biggest mismatch. Francis has shown that he can win a game in the end, but he's also shown that he can make a very poor decision in the clutch. If nothing else, I trust Ming to make the best decision and or make the ft's.

Without question, it's Steve. He's proven it so many times.

I couldn't agree more. Steve hit countless CLUTCH shots last year that saved/tied/won the game for us - in Yao-Shaq:I he hit 2 of them. Steve Francis is the definition of clutch; if you disagree, go research how many times he hit last second shots last year.

Surly Yao earned his nickname of the dynasty with a wopping 13ppg and 8reb, and a trippto the loterry... If your going to complain about steve's nickname, you cant ignore yaos... Steve is definatly closer to a franchise player than yao is.

what decisions at the end of the game last season did yao make to win the game. All i remember was him getting the ball stripped at clutch times:confused:

Gotta go with Steve. He seemed to hit alot of game winning or tying shots at the buzzer last year.

What a strange suggestion. Can you see the future? If you can, posters would like to know- do we make the playoffs?
Sorry but I was non committal as we must just wait and see who comes thru this season, I dont expect Cato to be the one.

yeah, i'd love to know all the big shots ming hit last year with the clock running down and all the great decisions he made that won a game. he was nails when it came to free throws, no doubt about it, but hell, cuttino was even more nails (3rd in the league in last 2 minute ft% at one point) and of course everyone hates him.

and fg%? wtf, he's a big guy, they'll have a higher percentage by virtue of offensive rebound tip ins and dunks off passes that guards do not get and of course those types of shots are not to be had in the final 6 seconds. something tells me yao's percentage w/o layups and dunks was no higher than steve's w/o layups and dunks. all big guys would get the shot if it was only fg%, but guards/sf's take the vast majority of last second shots.

steve hit like 5 game tying 3's last year and completely took over the lakers game and a portland game and yet gets criticized for his bad decision making and yao is the one called clutch even though he had his own bad ending against new york.

now if this were an all-time rockets thing, mad max no doubt. he was ridiculous on big shots, and tortured the spurs.

Can we somehow get the stats for who hit a higher % last year in the last few minutes of a game?

You have to use you best player...Steve....even if its as a decoy. Yoa is not the best player on the team. Honestly...to the dismay of the Yoa fans and Cat haters...Ming is number 3 as far as player rankings. Steve and Cat would be my first options right now.
