LOL...this was for the "any player who's not signed" contract proposers. Found this on realgm, but their source is Doug's wife's website (don't bother visiting, I couldn't find the actualy press release.

Who what's first crack at a rehabbed Doug Christie? He a Van Gundy-type?

    Discuss.

Christie is done, both Snyder and Head are better players IMO.

Plus, I don't want his wife anywhere near Houston. :D

You need her permission just to sign him and if you do sign him you want her close because she is carrying his man glands.

Doug Christie can play PG, no? (or more exactly... Doug Christie once could play PG when he was young, no?)

Bingo, he played PG in toronto and when Bibby sat Bobby Jackson would come in and play the scoring gaurd role while Christie ran the offense. But man that team in toronto caused alot of matchup problems, they had Christie, VC, Tmac all on the perimiter.

Cant we just work him out see if he has any juice left. Its low risk/medium reward move. Can never have enough depth

I guess you can always look at it that way--try them out, then pass. But I really think this guy is done. Man, I hope I don't have to eat those words later, but he just started going downhill his last year with the Kings and just got worse from there. We can't afford to waste another roster spot.

I'd probably have to pass, even on the workout. But if you really want the workout, I'll give you that much. :)

JVG only like them if they whipped by him . . not some external entity

    nnnaaaa
Battier = a younger, taller, better version of Christie
    and
Battier still maintains his own Nads

Stick a fork in Christie. . HE IS DONE!

I wouldn't mind giving Christie a shot, if he's got anything left to offer. We don't have much veteran savvy in our backcourt -- just Alston and Sura (if healthy). Snyder, KillBill, Lucas, and Head are all pretty green.

He's whipped indeed and maybe on his last legs, but the guy plays with a lot of passion. Battier is a high energy guy but christie was a vocal leader in the locker room from what I've heard. A big combo guard who can run an offense and play defense at one point. I remember when Chris Webber's interview after the Kings lost Game 7 to the wolves on that missed Webber three a few years back he said "it hurts Doug Christie to lose." He might have meant his wife beats him, but still, a passionate guy like that may replace some of that bob sura fire.

In our all-rookie backcourt of up-and-coming young talent, it might not be bad to have Christie IF:

    1. He is really over all his injuries
    2. He can play better than he did in Orlando
    3. He will sign for cheap

IF all those things are true, why not? We only need a short-timer to get our young guys some more maturity.

However, ideally we need shooters. Our defense is good enough. But to have a playoff tested vet in our backcourt is good assuming 1-3 are true.

If we had more roster spots giving Christie a shot would be OK especially with the questions surounding Sura (which are the same as those around Christie) but that last spot needs to be a PF/C IMO.

What can it hurt to let him try out. At present (without TMac) this is a very shakey backcourt especially weak on perimeter defense. I don't know what to expect, and right now after witnessing Alston's game last year, I don't expect much. If Christie has rehabed back into form, he might be an asset. No harm in taking a look.

That's a good point ...we REALLY need a PF/C and we only have one roster spot left open.

That being said, we need solid and dependable basketball players first and foremost particularly at guard. If management thinks Christie is that and our only PF/C options are long-shot rookies, then I'd rather have Christie (again, assuming he's dependable and cheap).

As much as I'd like it, I doubt its going to happen. I doubt anything is going to happen for that matter.
