man give Jake a break. he never said he is Yao or anything even close to that. in fact he hasn't said much at all.
We really haven't seen the current T-mac play with the MVP Yao. That is because Mcgrady got treatment from the doctor at Waco and returned after Yao's injury. People forget how bad Tmac was playing before he got treatment for his back. The trade rumors even started going rounds. We could've easily been on some 10 game winning streak if Tmac was playing like the real Tmac. At the time Tmac was playing with yao, he was getting wide open jumpers and missing them on a consistent basis. Now, he is contested on almost every jump shot he takes and he still makes them. We couldn't even run the pick and roll with yao and Tmac because at the time Tmac was not hitting his open jumpers. It will be interesting to see this MVP T-mac playing with MVP Yao. Heck, when was the last time a team had two MVP candidates in one team?
I dont think we will see MVP Tmac playing with MVP Yao this year. No way Yao can be fully healthy for playoffs I think. But we still should have enough to make atleast the second round. And I almost rather have Tmac covered then wide open. Tmac is the type of player that wont make a wide open shot, but will drain it constantly in someones face.
He might be the best shooter Tmac has seen, the problem is Novak doesn't do much of anything else Getting back to the original point, Tmac will see less double teaming when he posts up on the elbow, but they will still double him off pick and rolls. The good thing is he has a good finisher in Yao, while Deke doesn't usually finish those Tmac passes. Bonzi better pick up his game, he had a couple of gimmies from Tmac close to the basket against Atlanta and he didn't convert
