Are they still sitting Adams on back to backs? He played last night and Tari sat. Wondering if we see the double big tonight vs Lakers who have no centers
They are still sitting Adams for B2Bs but Udoka said he'll play tonight because he sat out the 2nd half against the Suns. No doubt we'll see the double-big at some point against the Lakers.
This is how I figured it would go. Lakers pass the ball too well. I think teams like them and warriors would eat up our 2-3 zone double big lineups
Never thought about it really, but I'm not sure why (assuming you had a very athletic 5) a 1-3-1 zone wouldn't work
One of the issues for me offensively isn't Adams, it's Alpi not being a perimeter threat compared to Serge and JJJ. Both of those guys are respectable from 3 and Alpi is not. I get your general point though and agree that it's Adams making it work, and it won't work with Jock for example.
Like I been saying since before trade deadline, unless you going to play Bari at the 5 … teams with bigs who can shoot will exploited our defenses and their C will end up with open 3s …. Lakers, Minn, are 2 teams that have done it all year…because Adams and Alpi play drop coverage
Teammates need to be more aware of Adams's passes. I see at least once every game when Adams made a well-conceived pass only resulted into a TO because the guy he passed to wasn't anticipating it.
It seems like the broadcast is always talking about how the double big lineup helps everyone else but it also helps Steven Adams. It allows him to just focus on doing what he does best, hit the glass. When he's the only big out there he inevitably will be in positions where it makes sense for him to try to score more or where he has to get out and defend in space more. This way he can focus on clogging the lane and boxing out.
Interesting that you think it only works because of Adams. You pointed out that it wouldn't work with Jock, for example, I'm assuming you mean Sengun plus Jock. Adams is the key piece here, the thing that makes the lineup good. I'm curious, do you think it would work with Jock and Adams?
That's right. The double big only works with either one spacing the floor (which is just a basic 4 out with taller players) or if both bigs can pass the ball extremely well in tight spaces, which Jock cannot. Alpi could make it work with lots of other bigs because of his IQ. Jock would **** it up lol. Edit, sorry that means for me it's not just purely Adams, it's purely Adams on our roster who can do it with Alpi. Alpi can't make it work with any generic big, they must be a skilled passer/board threat like Stevo or a spacer like Turner for example. So no, Jock can't be in a double big with Adams.
