Dorsey is not the key to this deal. As someone said so what if the Knicks get the best out of this deal. As long as we do good too. I agree with that. Just wanted to point out that hill is a young prospect with more upside but right now is not even as good as Dorsey and may never be. The reason you do this trade is to dump Tmac get under the lux tax and draft picks. A bonus is that these picks might be useful in free agency this summer and also the ability to look at Jefferies and Harrington and see if they are worth keeping. It's still a good deal.
Okay lets compare.... Dorsey: Height- 6'7 wingspan- 7'1 Standing reach- 8'11 no step vertical- 27in max vertical- 33in Age-26 Hill: Height- 6'10 wingspan- 7'3 Standing reach- 9'1 no step vertical- 31in max vertical- 35in Age- 22 I go with Jordan Hill.... --RB
Dorsey is one of my favorite rockets. I watched him play at Memphis for years. I don't think RA likes him though. Talent-wise I think that he could do the same thing in the NBA as the D-league. He doesn't have a jump shot but he is the best garbage man around. Bummer.
I'm not sure I follow this logic. Dorsey is a 26-year-old goon with low basketball IQ who has foot problems and can't get out of the D-League on a team that is lacking in frontcourt depth and starting a 6'5 center. Hill is extremely raw compared to other big men his age but he's only 22 and has legit height/length for his position along with a decent jumpshot. His upside is way higher than Dorsey's as far as I see it. Again, I don't get the OP's logic.
To my understanding, Rockets can still sign Scola and Lowry because they have their bird rights, meaning that they can go over the cap to sign them. The Rockets can give Scola 5.5 million, Lowry 4 million, then sign their 1st rounder to about ~2 million. The Rockets should still be under the LT there, or choose to sign another player with their MLE.
wait second am I missing something, is the trade firm??? and Dorsey going to the Knicks??? what hell is going on ???
You see what management did with Dorsey a man who couldn't beat out my sister for water boy a couple years ago.. What makes you think they couldn't do the same with, what did you say again? "A big, athletic, young player with big man prototypical features."
Jordan Hill has played in more NBA games than Joey Dorsey, and Dorsey has been in the league for three years. /thread
We could even use his and Battiers expirings in a S&T deal for a max player example: Bosh opts out - Toronto want to get something in return, so we send them 2 expirings plus a talent (Landry) OR we use the draft picks to sweeten the deal OR we throw in Hill instead of Landry Can this trade just go down already please?
Yeah I agree. I also don't understand how some people think there's a signable player this off season (I'm not talking about Lebron/Wade). If the Rockets can get future talent/assets in multiple 1st/2nd round picks, this is a tremendous deal to build the team on in the next couple of years. I'm beyond perplexed how some fans think the Rockets should have made a big move this year when they weren't close to being contenders.
I agree with you! I'm guessing a lot of our members here are impulse shoppers.. I tend not to have buyers remorse.. I'm patient I can wait for a fire sale..
We really haven't seen much of both of them so I don't see how you can say who is better. Just sayin...
ill be more specific. i dont want to sign lowry or scola or at least i want the option of not signing them and signing a bigger name player. yes bird rights = doesnt count toward cap but i wouldve rather morey trade for a star player or sign a star player. if we resign scola/lowry, we would be where we are now, a team full of role players going nowhere. with this trade, we cant sign a star player without going way over the cap. let tmac expire, let scola/lowry walk and sign a star player with a backloaded contract. i'd rather gamble with free agency than sit through another mediocre season where all there is to talk about is the rockets 'over achieving.'
