I didnt see the game but Donte's stats looked pretty good for his 1st game. I dont know about anybody else but I'm curious to see how he develops this year. http://www.nba.com/games/20081007/SACPOR/boxscore.html
I saw the box score, I wish I could have gotten a closer look at him. I still think he will be a great player when he matures.
I was sad to see him go, and I will always be a fan........ But we have RON ARTEST *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this isn't exactly going to be another gay/battier trade. we're the clear winners. donte will be good, but thats what you give up to get an allstar.
There's always that chance that Donte Greene becomes something more than good. If he becomes a real superstar, and Artest doesn't pan out, we'll just have to shake our heads.
I wouldn't worry too much about that. No handles + no post-up game = great role player at best. For those that say he is young and those attributes will develop, 1) he's not an inside player and 2) there hasn't ever been a player that I can think of that developed handles after coming to the league. athleticism + outside shooting does not make a superstar.
he definitely needs to work on his handles...he has the right move in mind to get by his man but the handles aren't there to complete it. oh and he doesnt even want to play defense. but i really hope he does well and succeeds he seems like a good kid and I wish only the best for him. sucks i forgot about the other game i went to playing 2k9 after the rockets game ended...would have watched donte to see how he did.
Looks like he's having a fun time in Sacramento though ... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/76xg7mmUg-o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/76xg7mmUg-o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
This is a simular response to the response he got after the 40 points he scored in his 1st summer league game. He does have some great 1st games though.
You proved my point. Rashard Lewis is nothing but an over-glorified role player. Stephen Jackson can handle the ball, atleast enough to create his own shot.
I think Rashard is ridiculously overpaid and at best a #2 option (preferably a #3).. but I think he's better than you give him credit for. He's evolved into having a semi-post game where he can hit a bit of a turnaround at least. I guess when I hear "role player" then I think of a guy who has no shot at being one of your prime 3 guys.
We aren't clear winners. I think both team won with this trade FOR SURE. Both sides are elated. We got our 3rd scorer and a absolute beast for basically nothing from last year's team. Kings got a player who could potentially be an All-Star and a huge foundation piece with Kevin Martin on a very young Kings team. I think everyone is happy with this trade . Even if one side doesn't pan out, it was a fair trade at the time of the trade I believe.
It's pretty much common knowledge that Greene is REALLY, REALLY raw. And even if he is to blossom into a star, it will be after T-Mac and Yao become contract albatrosses instead of all-stars. Win-now mode >>>>> "there's always that slight chance he could turn out to be awesome four years down the road" mode. Therefore, the Rockets made the right decision. Period. Of course, I'm still happy that he's doing well. Says a lot about our front office.
