T-Will belongs on the bench. Ish belongs on the bench. Pat belongs next to the coach on the bench. Hill belongs behind the bench. We see highlights and these guys play in garbage time, and conclude they should be given starters minutes. The coaching staff and players see them in practice every day in context of the team's system. Yes I get tired of posters feeling that their favorite players are some how "entitled" to max playing time just because they saw them dunk on a highlight or make a great pass when we were down 20 last month. With the exception of Patterson, the guys I named are very poor shooters. In RA's system, that is bad. That said, Ish is a very serviceable pg, but still the 3rd best on this team.
Wow space wasn't directed at you. My momma always said a hit dog will holler. Sorry if I struck a nerve.
I am tired of hearing this excuses and absolution of responsibility on the part of the coaches. The coaching staff and players see them in practice every day in context of the team's system. If you like the coach . . folx trot this lil gem out no matter how long the losing streak or lack of results. You right .. we don't see them at practice but we do see what the coach is trotting out there to get beaten by the Timberwolves. Rocket River
Most of our team is relatively young so almost anyone who plays outside of Scola, Battier and Miller could be considered "youth". Williams is 23, Lowry 24, Buddinger 22, Ish Smith 22, Jordan Hill 23, Paterick Patterson 21, Scola is "old" at 30, which is typically a players prime. Battier is "really old" at 32, with the ancient Brad Miller at 34. Martin 28, Hayes 27, Lee 25, Brooks 26. I don't think it is age that is restricting any one's playing time here. Perhaps after the trade deadline if no major moves happen (which I doubt), then some of the veterans will see reduced roles if we continue to slide. But it's kind of silly that fans both want youth to play and want to kill the coach and GM for not being contenders in a year when we really have no business thinking any GM or coach combination would make us into contenders. We aren't a different GM away from having Bosh, Lebron and Wade in Houston instead of Miami. Or a different coach away from being the top seed in the west rather than a potential lottery team. It's not to say they are perfect or have zero room for improvement, but I struggle to see how changing either would significantly improve our prospects any time soon. Especially considering that the few coaches or GMs who might be considered equal or better already have jobs in better situations than the Rockets currently are in.
I think a lot of the frustration stems from the fact that our currently line-up and rotations are not getting it done. If we were actually winning, that would be a different story. What do we have to lose by giving some of these younger (less experienced) guys, some play time to get more experience? It does not have to be huge minutes, but just some playtime depending on matchups and who is hot or having an off game. I think it is a telling sign that Adelman will not be back next year, by his choice, thus he has no interest in the team's future beyond this season.
Look for Les to hire a new coach that is young with little or no head coaching experience but with a promising upside, like he did when he hired Morey. Adelman will be coaching the Lakers next year.
repped, I agree. People say that brooks, lowry, landry etc needed to earn their minutes, I don't understand what gives the rooks the inherent right to graze the court without reason. The court is the grand stage reserved for those that deserve it, or have "PROVEN" themselves so.
