The surprise for me was seeing how both Tate and Nwaba form a defensive wall when they play together. Tate actually reminds me of a young Marcus Smart, Nwamba is more on the lines of PJ but way more athletic and able to finish at the rim. These are great pickups and the team is going to be really solid down the stretch especially protecting a lead.
I Disagree, Jae'Sean Tate can create and is a better Dribble, Passer, Athletic. Jae'Sean Tate does play like Draymond Green or Dennis Rodman Detroit Version off the Bench.
if that's his ceiling, then that's perfect from both a player and fan perspective. As a player, you'll never be out of a job unless you're simply too old to be effective. Championship teams want a do-it-all hustle player like a Tucker/Battier, and young teams want a player like this to act as mentor. As a fan, it's so easy to root for the Battiers and Tuckers of the world.
Guys like Nwaba and Tate become very important in certain playoff matchups, athletic defensive wings who can switch and defend. I really want him to keep doing what he does well defensively, pushing the pace in transition and attacking the rim; but I also really want him to develop a consistent three point shot. You need guys like this to win playoff series, the Iguodalas, Mario Elies and Trevor Arizas of the game.
I also get strong Marcus Smart vibes from Tate - so far, he's the one I'm most excited about but Nwaba and Brown are certainly promising in their own ways. The thing I noticed about Tate is he is one of those guys like Smart who has a nose for the ball - seems like he is always hustling HARD and finds himself in the mix around the ball often. I'm not sure you can teach that - it's just kind of instinct combined with luck that means something when you add effort to the mix. Similar size and wingspan to Smart too.
Tate has some young Bonzi Wells in him too. By comparing him to Tucker or Battier, I think you are massively underrating his offensive talent.
Tate is quick and pretty big. His offense is the question. Kinda reminds me of a smaller roberson with a better handle. If he can shoot at all or add in a better knack for handling the ball and initiating **** then hes gonna be even better for us. Just like @OkayAyeReloaded says its all about being versatile.
He’s been horrible tonight. broken record.... but because Wood is playing C.... FORWARDS!!! Why can’t the Rockets have even average forwards?
If he can't shoot any better then he has he doesn't need to play other than creating a change of pace defensively. His shot looks awful.
well we're spending 80 million on our PG and SG and another 34 million on gordon and wood. there's only so much money left after that.
noted. frustration is that this has been a theme fir like a decade lol. the best they’ve gotten are Tucker types. Well Parsons as he has healthy. I like EG, but you have to allocate that money to the forward position.
