you dont fire an icon and legend with respect to football broadcasting because he gets a little upset off camera
I went to the 2005 NFL Draft and we sat pretty close to the ESPN broadcast "booth". Until that day, Chris Berman already got on my nerves mor than most sportscasters. After seeing the way he acted that day, I despise him. The two things that stood out to me: 1. Him screaming at an assistant to give him a pen. She was pointing to the desk which made him even angrier. My friend and I could clearly see the pen that was on top of his papers and finally the assistant walked over there, picked up the pen and sat it back down in front of him. 2. While Kiper or Torry Holt or whoever else was at the "booth" with him were talking, he'd be rolling his eyes or making that "c'mon, wrap it up" gesture with his hands. Basically, he pouted anytime the camera was off of him. I really wanted to get hammered and start heckling him, but then the Texans selected Travis Johnson and my friend and I left immediately, uber-pissed off.
An "icon" maybe just b/c he's on every ****ing show that the only national sports network really around shoves down our throat. A legend? Berman is a legend only in his own mind.
like i said, in broadcasting terms he might as well be...but icon/legend whatever is just splitting hairs
I thought he looked like he refrained a bit. Replace his "Jesus" spots with what was really on his mind and that could have been a 15 minute rant.
i was more pissed off then that in the car this morning, that's nothing. i'd say if he always treats his co-workers like that and in rm95's story, he's got issues but could just be a bad day.
Good ol' Berman at it again! <object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uMg0hqLUDDI&rel=1&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uMg0hqLUDDI&rel=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YkI9wgrgTOU&rel=1&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YkI9wgrgTOU&rel=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object>

I heard about these new one's this morning on sports radio. What a creep! Especially in that second video. Some ex-ESPN employee obviously has it out for him and is getting revenge.
I didn't see anything wrong with the first video at all. So he says the f-word when he's off the air. Wow, he must really be an a-hole. The 2nd video, I don't know, he seemed like he was totally kidding. I didn't see anything wrong with it either.
I sat next to Berman in the booth for a ESPN Sunday Night Astros game at the Dome while he called it. He must have had a good night, he wasn't that bad then.
