We all knew this would happen. Somebody would compare Martin's stats to mcgrady's after the trade. Not taking into consideration two totally different teams and two players with different roles on their teams.

Martin works to get his shots within the offense. Mcgrady's has to operate with the ball in his hands. Mcgrady's will play more games against weaker eastern conf teams and Martin will play against better western conf teams. So basically you are trying to compare apple to oranges.

People have to come to grips with the fact that mcgrady's time on this team was done. After last year we moved in a different direction playing wise. Don't forget how Adelman tried to cater to him at the expense of the rest of the team. Only to have him bail on the team midway through the season. You have to understand that signified the end. So regardless if he is able to play, his time I'm Houston was over. Accept it and move on.

For the next 4-5 years you will see what a difference Martin and all of the other parts we got on Thursday will make for this franchise. If NY doesnt get LeBron and/or Wade or Bosh to make mcgrady a 3rd option, they will struggle to make the playoffs in the east.

This season is about growth - mostly individual. I don't expect true team gelling until mid-next season once Yao and others have had a chance to play.

I think Adelman thought Mac was washed up and I think he will be proven wrong. Mac still has plenty of game left in his tank - I still would have done the trade Morey did.

The one thing I will not stand to watch is Battier playing PF if Adelman is going to be an idiot and not play any of our bigs I hope he's coaching another team real soon.

    Don't forget this Tracy. I wish him good luck and good health, but he gave up on the Rockets before they gave up on him. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TjbkXewxlGI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TjbkXewxlGI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Everyone seems to justify what the Rockets did to McGrady as an eye for an eye. Shouldn't organizations be above the need to get back at an immature player by being immature themselves? Sure, it might satisfy the fans that McGrady angered but aren't they supposed to be about winning?

Jeez. How quickly some people forget.

The issue was T-Mac wanted to be handed the position of offensive focal point when he was still gimpy and after he had made a power play against management the year before.

Not playing him was not about how many points he could score. It was about him "marching to the sea" over the Rocket's team concept and game plan and coddling him on a team that had been rebuilt around unselfish team ball. He wanted the team to sublimate the goals of all the other players on the roster, as well as coaches and management, for the benefit of him.

If they had rolled over, showed their bellies, and wagged their tails for T-Mac, I would have lost a whole lot of respect for the coaches and management. I have to think that the same would have been true for the other players on the roster.

Showcasing T-Mac would have destroyed the team this season, and might have caused lingering damage down the line. Maybe next year or even the year after somebody looks back at how they rolled over for T-Mac and decides its time to try and get theirs. And when management loses the team, its over. You become the Golden State Warriors. The only way out at that point is to blow everything up, fire a whole bunch of people and start over. No matter how many points he could score, that risk wasn't worth it.

That is the calculation that was made.

Laughing stocks? you obviously dont understand how well this trade worked out for us. kevin martin is a really good player but he was never able to emerge because he played on the kings who havn't made into the playoffs in god knows how long. he's got a shot and even though it wasn't falling against the pacers haters like you need to understand that it takes time to get comfortable with a new team after staying with one for your entire career. Once martin gets used to the rockets playing style, he's going to turn out quite well for us... unlike tmac. Now im not a tmac hater but his time in houston never really worked out. im glad hes moved to the knicks where he can get a fresh start and im glad we got kevmart out of this trade.
