It's obvious we were trying to get Yao involved early, but maybe too involved. We should be working him on quick cuts and flashes in the posts with quick feeds before trying to pound and force feed him.
DD is going to need a lot of lip balm, because that is going to be a lot kissing going on! It is to late for Vspan to start playing pg this season. I hope that next pre-season he will get a lot more playing time.
Yep, I agree with DaDa. I don't like losses, but I know things are going to get better, and possibly darn good.
I still think it was foolish to start Yao and play him 27 minutes in his first game back after over 2 months. I get it that we're desperate. I get it that he's done an amazing job getting himself back into condition. But it's a mistake to just drop him back into the deep end. Yao shouldn't be pressured to go for 20 points right off the bat (5-15 shooting and 5 TO was no surprise). It throws the entire team off to have to readjust to his presence so suddenly. I was irritated to see that he was having to ice the knee down after the game. Up until our losing streak, all I heard publically and privately was that the Rockets were going to take every precaution with Yao and not rush him back. One slump later, he gets tossed out there with starter minutes with only a single practice under his belt. WTH. If you want an example of JVG going over the top to get wins at the cost of his players, this was it. I'm pissy about this, and I'd like to think that I'm one of the more even keeled guys on this BBS. I could care less that we've lost half our games in the past month. It's my opinion that JVG is making a massive mistake here. This is exactly how Chris Webber torpedoed the Kings' season a few years back. Evan
I think the critical question is how will TMAC play with a dominant YAO on his side? he has only dominated when his team had him as the one and only play maker.
Hope you don't mind a couple of tweaks to a good, positive outlook. Change from this... To... (Rafer gets wide open looks because he shoots so poorly and can't finish at the rim well.) Additionally... Snyder should look to "slash" to the rim first and shoot jump shots second. Bonzi will need to get over all that ails him, put his heart and soul into finishing the season and then take it up a notch for the playoffs. (Ditto for everyone else, too.) and... Van Gundy needs to find the right time and right big man to run on to the court and grab his legs to fire the team up... like maybe anybody who trips Yao into a hard fall.
