If this is the case, I'm more inclined to give her (or anyone else) some benefit of the doubt. The people I spoke of in my above post have undoubtedly mellowed and "matured," but I will remain forever, at a minimum, suspicious of politicians and their religious beliefs.
basso, posting the latest wingnut meme interspersing O'Donnell and Carter quotes without identifying it as such, doesn't make you clever.
Yeah I recognized the Carter quote from Playboy or wherever it was. When people want to bring religion into my life, I'm suspicious of it, regardless of the religion itself or its political affiliation. I don't like the thought of anyone telling me how I should or should not live my life. It's my business and my business only.
Minor issue. C'mon, libs! We don't want them bringing up idiotic talking points like Jeremiah Wright, Obama-is-a-Muslim (again, like the Republican Colin Powell said, who cares if he is?), and all that other nonsense. We should do the same. Masturbation, witchcraft- she's a kook, no doubt, but that was in the past. I'm much more interested in her "use" of campaign funds when she wasn't actually running for office- if this is true, THAT is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Okay! Watchdog: Christine O'Donnell 'Is Clearly A Criminal' A government watchdog group says Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell used campaign funds to pay her rent and other personal expenses. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has filed a complaint against O'Donnell with the Federal Elections Commission and is asking federal prosecutors to investigate her. The complaint is based largely on a sworn statement by O'Donnell's former campaign finance consultant, David Keegan. He says O'Donnell used campaign funds to pay her rent in both March and April 2009, then listed the spending as "reimbursement expenses." The complaint also accuses O'Donnell of using campaign funds to pay for gas, meals and a bowling outing. "Christine O'Donnell is clearly a criminal, and like any crook she should be prosecuted," explained CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan in a statement. "Ms. O'Donnell has spent years embezzling money from her campaign to cover her personal expenses. Republicans and Democrats don't agree on much these days, but both sides should agree on one point: thieves belong in jail not the United States Senate." Sloan added, "If you need money to pay the rent and eat, you get a job; you don't start a Senate campaign so unsuspecting donors can support you."
I don't know where you get that idea. Obama is a good father, and a good man, who loves America. Whether he is a good president or not is debatable, but to take it farther than that seems to be very childish to me...
So what Christine O'Donnell said, in her own words this weekend, referring to the Tea Party: "I think it's a little like the Chosen People of Israel in the Hebrew scriptures who cycle through periods of blessing and suffering and then return to the divine principles in their darker days. It's almost as if we're in a season of Constitutional repentance." So, the Tea Party was chosen by God? OK, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but, unfortunately: VERDICT: WHACKO!!!!!
I'm wouldn't hold something she said 20 years ago against her but keep in mind that practically every politician will say that they will govern according to the Constitution and not personal feelings. I've been out of the country so I haven't been able to follow O'Donnell's campaign but based on the comments that Basso posted, meant to support her, I would question how much she is able to separate her narrow minded faith views from governance. Also I will add that the Constitution is vague deliberately, and it is an impossibility to just govern in a strict Constitutional manner since the Constitution is silent about most things we deal with.
i don't think it's any more childish than the OP and the kerfuffle about witchcraft. in any case, what does religion have to do with Obama's religiosity?
you mean the church with the ex-marine pastor, the ex-marine who volunteered to serve more time than he had to? that church?
obama is held accountable for the fact that he lived in indonesia and attended a dreaded madrasa...when he was like 7 years old. but that doesnt stop others from trying to smear him for it.
She's a sociopath just like all the rest of them though I suspect this one is off her rocker a tad bit more.
