Uh, the Republican party, the one in which you are a registered member in the State of New York, is the one who nominated this non-whacking wacko (over a very capable legislator) snatching certain defeat from the jaws of victory, and which is conducting an ideological jihad against washed up fat babyfaced bespectacled shouting losers who deny this reality.
I just watched her interview on Hannity to get a feel for her. I was impressed to be honest. She seems much more competent and reasonable than I was expecting, and infinitely better than Palin ever was/is. Her explanation regarding her faith was good. She basically said that when she was doing those interviews she was young and new to her faith so she was using them as opportunities to preach about her faith. She said she has matured a lot in her faith since then.
Sam- 4 years ago Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi took control of congress. Is there more or less unemployment than there was four years ago? is the deficit lower or higher than it was four years ago? are you better off than you were 4 years ago?
Looks like she's a clear-cut winner, according to the Tea and the Repub parties. As I mentioned in another thread, if it's inevitable, they should just .... ...hand her the job.
Of course Palin is a natural comparison, but saying she's much better than Palin ever was could still leave her far short of being suited for a nationally elected public office.
It's like the "bad legislation tactic" being used for candidates! You know, how congress will introduce absolutely draconian laws that get vehemently shot down, only to introduce legislation that is equally disgusting, but less so in comparison that will correspondingly appear acceptable and pass - as planned all along. So ultra-stupid-wingnut Palin is used to get slightly-less-ultra-but-still-stupid-wingnut O'Donnell to appear acceptable by comparison!
I wasn't commenting on her suitability for nationally elected public office. I don't know enough about her to do that.
I can't stand Palin. She makes my skin crawl. I felt like she wasn't intelligent enough, wasn't rational enough, wasn't comfortable enough, wasn't grounded enough, etc. I don't believe O'Donnell falls into the same category as Palin. I don't think she comes across as stupid at all. She came across very reasonable and her explanations for all of my concerns were rational. The one question that was bugging me was "What does she do for a living?" She talked about clients but I couldn't figure out what exactly she did. At the end she referred to herself as a PR person for a client, but it sounded like a catchall title.
Simply saying "I was young and stupid" means very little to me when you have done nothing as of late to demonstrate that you are not now just "old and stupid" or "old and cynically manipulative". A fair bit of what has been related in this thread is concerning to me - not necessarily because of the content (although it is obviously wingnut-worthy for the most part) but because much of it is spoken in the context of us vs them. I sincerely dislike that kind of attitude from an American politician. I do not support bigots. She preaches against masturbation, apparently.
She's not old and stupid, 2 months ago, she was unemployed and behind on her rent and happened upon a great little scheme, launch a campaign and expense all of your living costs. I call that old and shrewd.
