That game was an absolute blast to watch! Way to go Rockets! When, Francis flew over everyone and dunked in the final seconds of the 1st half, I jumped out of my chair and cheered - scared my folks.

    Woohoo! :D

Steve "THE FRANCHISE" Francis just showed the NATION and the entire NBA that he is still the MOST ATLETHIC PG in the NBA!!!! That dunk was the best I've seen in awhile, Franchise is only 6'3 and he dunk over SHAQ,KOBE,GLOVE,and all the rest of the FAKERS scrubs that was UNBELIEVABLE!!! and dont forget the break away dunk he had when he stole the ball from D-Fisher, and Mo Taylor had one also,, the rockets seemed like they were having fun playing tonight I loved it I just hope they KEEP it UP!!:)

Well, what did I miss? :D

Seriously, I did see the final few minutes of the game when I turned on the local ABC station to watch the news. Of course, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were the Rockets beating the Lakers, not only were they outplaying Shaq and Kobe, but they actually scored 99 points -- often five or six quarters of work.
I have some questions for those who watched the whole game. Was the outcome more about the Rockets or the Lakers? Did the Rockets win because they were movtivated to put on a good show on national TV? Is this an indication that they are figuring out how to make Van Gundy's system work on both ends of the court? Is it because they always seem to play well against the Lakers? Or was it just a Christmas miracle?
Or was it because the Lakers are starting to self-destruct? They've lost 4 of 6 and they've put on some bad performances lately. Maybe their age is catching up to them already. Maybe all those stars are getting tired of sharing the ball. I read that Shaq only took four shots in the second half and missed them all, and that's without Karl Malone playing. How long before Shaq and Kobe resume their public feud?

Thanks to the Rockets for the great Christmas present. Even though I missed most of it, it was just what I wanted.
And if the Rockets play better when I'm not watching, then I'm willing to skip tonight's game, too. ;)

shouldn't they be even more motivated after losing 4 of 6 games with this one being nationally televised?
    age? shaq is 31. kobe's 25. gary's 35.
it's their fault they weren't sharing the ball
shaq missed all 4 because our defense was that good. kudos to cato

give the rockets some credit. they came out and played.

rr has a question: does he really have to eat crow, or does he still have a glimmer of hope of finding something negative in this victory?

    Answer: eat crow.

Rockets lead almost the entire game. They were so dominant on defense it wasn't funny. When the Lakers made their run and Kobe caught fire in the 3rd, the Rockets regained their composure, found the bucket by playing smart unselfish ball with the PnR on offense. They did it almost entirely without Yao in the 4th. Lakers went like 7 or 8 minutes without a fg in the 4th. The Rocks put the game away so solidly after losing their lead that the Fakers couldn't even challenge in the final two minutes. Malone or no Malone, you still have Shaq, Payton and Kobe at the top of their games playing at home where they have only lost once since last Feb. Lakers get no excuses and Rockets get all the credit, period.
