I don't see what's so egregious about his spelling and grammar. You're not exactly a Pulitzer Prize winner yourself.
Obviously if you want to run and gun, Yao isn't your guy. That's like DUH ... So what is your point, this team has better chance winning by running if Yao is not in the lineup?
Pot / Kettle. Your reasoning prowess is faulty. You have a peculiar 'tunnel-vision' in your arguments that borders on madness. Like I said....anyone else?
First off, saying someone's reasoning "prowess" is faulty makes as much sense as saying someone's quickness is slow. I have no idea what your "tunnel-vision" refers to. I'm asking for more data before I accept a claim. And you are making a claim without much data. And Pot/ Kettle? I hope that was a reference to you and the poster you called out for grammar/spelling, because it wouldn't make any sense otherwise.
sigh...forum boards. Okaaaayyyy... 1. Read a bit more. Calling someone's prowess faulty has the implied sense that a supposed 'strength' is indeed a flaw. See a portion of one Emile Zola essay (one of several regarding The Dreyfuss Affair) in defending a Jewish soldier whom had been wrongly convicted by the Courts, presumably because of his race. He accused the judges in the case by calling their manipulating of the facts 'vile' and saying that their intellectual control over the common man did not hide the fact that their 'reasoning prowess is faulty' and their 'supposed grasp of fact is accepted only by the mind that is given to the delusion that law-men are always as consistent as the law'. Its a good essay. If you are, indeed, in 'training' for something, take a little break from it and read some other things. 2. What you call a 'claim' should more properly be labeled as an 'opinion'. I made no statement that insinuated that my feelings were fact and superior to other opinions. It simply was my opinion. I believe it. I added, in a bit of an linguistic flourish, that if you didn't agree, you could 'shoot me'. That said...you should lighten up. These forum boards are not being judged by axe-wielding tribunals. It's a place for opinions...about a GAME. If you don't agree with mine, fine. As I said earlier (full of mirth and good nature), we'll check in again a few weeks from now and see which opinion ended up being closer to fact. If you have any other dissenting thoughts, then I 'resign'...and forfeit this internet forum squabble to you. You win. Somehow, I'll bite my lip and carry on....
A healthy Yao would easily put us in a top contender slot, right now, we are catching people by surprise. The problem with that is when teams start to not underestimate us, we are trouble unless McGrady is back in 2004 form. As far as Yao slowing us down, I think there is truth in that but honestly most of the time, Yao was a sure thing. At this stage, I still can't say that about anyone on the team.
Honestly, how long do you think Yao could run before these same issues with his feet that have plagued him every season surface again? It could work...true enough. I just find it hard to visualize the offense getting into any type of real flow. It would be stopping and starting...momentum never really rolling. Sometimes Yao can be a black hole. He's very awkward...he falls A LOT. And thats in a half-court offense. I just cant see him running. night in, night out. i also see him plugging up lanes a lot of nights. Hes an all-star..I love him. Just dont see how the square peg fits into the round hole, here.
Re: T-Mac/Yao returning... We look good now, BUT it's still a small sample size. Maybe Utah/Portland are just overrated. Maybe we're playing over our heads. Maybe teams will make adjustments that work. Luckily... so far so good as far as injuries go. Hopefully Bud's ankle is alright. T-Mac just being decent helps us because it's an extra body. We need it in a marathon that is the NBA regular season.
