Did they teach you how to argue at that mediocre "law" school? Wow, you know hitler and isis arent exaxtly the same. You'll pay off those loans someday. Anyway, you should definitely always ask "is this what they want" whenever conducting foreign policy and do the opposite.
University of Chicago (regular full time student programs, not the summer executive remote access programs for foreigners) >>>>>>> Texas Tech, lolcats.
Actually they are doing pretty well. You really are showing that you don't have a clue here. Then why are you comparing them as if they are the same? ISIS? ISIS started in 2004. The U.S. fought against them in 2007 with the surge and they did take a hit from that, but what they did was to recruit former Saddam military officials into their ranks and that is what helped them become who they are. The failure in Iraq wasn't leaving too early, it was thinking that democracy was the right solution and handing power to Iranian backed Shiites and isolating the minority Sunni. That was the error. Once it was made, it was not fixable. Staying longer would not have done anything.
Radical Islamic terrorism... it has been around for a little longer than 2004 but since we stopped fighting it, it seems to be a bit worse.
you do realize that their goal is world conquest and conversion right? If we do not fight we might as well just join. Is that your long term plan?
I'm not exactly afraid of this group gaining influence and/or elevating their military capabilities as to be able to invade, let alone conquer, sovereign nations (especially Western ones). Especially if the Western world basically washed their hands of the situation, which seems to be their #1 motivator at this point (outside of religious precepts, of course).
ISIS wants to blow up the White House <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">New ISIS propaganda video shows unidentified men threatening to blow up the White House, Catherine Herridge reports. <a href="https://t.co/fsAC1di8bl">https://t.co/fsAC1di8bl</a></p>— Fox News (@FoxNews) <a href="https://twitter.com/FoxNews/status/667395534001311744">November 19, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
ISIS and its affiliates are in 9 countries so far. Their goal is to be in every country on earth. They don't need to "conquer" the countries they are in to turn them into giant messes. ISIS is way more of a threat to the world than Saddam Hussein ever was. The Frontline from Tuesday was really interesting, although completely depressing. I recommend everyone check it out: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/isis-in-afghanistan/ If we pulled everyone out of the Middle East, the Islamists would be saying "see, we are winning! They are retreating. ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!" We drop bombs and people say it recruits terrorists. ISIS is indoctrinating young children into the cause every day. This situation will never end as its current pace.
"Don't fight ISIS or ISIS wins" ~ People who brought us "safe spaces" and the participation trophy. - AOS
Stupid response as usual. People are saying to avoid collective punishment, bombing areas and causing extensive collateral damage. People are saying not to discriminate against peace loving muslims in the U.S, shutting down mosques and throwing them in camps. That's what people are saying. ISIS has to be disappear, but we must keep in mind how we make them disappear.
We're talking about ISIS. You forget that radical religious terrorist was started in the region by Irjun against Muslims. The current incarnation of ISIS, Taliban, and similar groups that are striking Europe amongst other places trace their roots back to the Mujahedeen which the U.S. help radicalize, arm, and train in the ways of fighting in order to defeat the Soviets. That short-sightedness by people who think the way you do is what led to this mess. More of the same will not get us out of it, it will only keep getting worse. It is getting worse. You will fight these guys forever but you can not extinguish them. We have not stopped fighting them either. They chose France as a target, as well as Russia, for joining the fight, not leaving it. No one is advocating doing nothing, we're just advocating using a smarter strategy that will have results. Our success in 2007 in Iraq wasn't from fighting harder - it was through building bridges and alliances.
"Bomb em all to hellll" ~ The dopes who brought us eight years in Iraq and ISIS and spent a trillion dollars doing it.
When did we stop fighting it? Pretty sure we still have troops in Afghanistan and we've been bombing in one way or another for a long tine. Radical Islamic terrorism is much worse since we invaded Iraq. There weren't car bombings and suicide attacks all over Iraq before we invaded. Fighting terrorism doesn't simply entail the Marines doing bloody house to house combat in Iraqi cities. It's quite a bit more than that.
I bet they're in far more than that. Pretty attainable goal I'd say. Well yeah, that's not news to anyone. Saddam kept the **** over there at shoe level. Deposing of these dictators created a power vacuum that brought us ISIS. Hooray. 1) Do you have reason or evidence to believe this? 2) Attack attack attack how? Bomb major cities? That seems to be going on already, and will likely continue, if not scale upwards with military intervention. Cause often times it does. The jury is no longer out on the effects of Western military intervention in the Middle East. Cults gonna cult. It's hard to eradicate an idea (especially one written into the most popular religion on the face of the planet) with military force. Best you can do is remove the fuel source from the fire. I agree. It's a fruitless war with no possible end.
Attack the bad guys and not the good guys? brilliant. awesome advice. nobody would of thought of this. Either suggest this magical plan of attack against ISIS that doesn't hurt any of the people they hide behind or shut the hell up.
