I wouldn't be surprised if they traded him with Melo as a package. If the recent rumors are true, they're shopping him around as well. He'd be a great way to shed salary for the cap strapped Nuggets. He's in the final year of contract as well so if he is shipped out with Melo, it'd be a 1 year rental for any team if he is indeed not a good fit. The Nugs have also found a 2 guard that they like in Afflalo. I can't help but think that these factors are lining up with the Rocks being a contender for acquiring him with Melo as a package.
What other stat are you basing ur opinion off? Chase Budinger is NOWHERE near the player JR Smith is. I get it, you like Budinger. But are you that blind to not see the obvious talent gap between the two players Can you atleast give me something Chase does better than JR Smith?
This thread is like the young under 25 crowd, going...but look, he can jump high, and score from 3pt land, versus the over 30 crowd going, uh, that guy is a certifiable idiot. Wisdom comes with age. DD
Look I wouldn't touch J.R.Smith with a 10 foot pole & I don't think the Rockets will either. If he's included in a deal it'll most likely be another team added to take on Mr. Smith. That being said, THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL THAT CHASE IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN SMITH! I like C-Bud ALOT but C'mon J.R. Smith "Headcase" or not, is one of the top 6th men in basketball and Chase is not. I think as Rockets fans we get really carried away with our evaluation of our players. Chase is a good young player but man he's overvalued here. I've read where people are critical of Smith's defense and tend to forget that Adelman actually let Jermaine "freakin'" Taylor (not exactly a stopper) start ahead of Chase to avoid him being matched up with Kobe Bryant. So Chase's defense isn't stellar. I like Chase and really would hate to see him leave but man we are talking about Carmelo Anthony.
Your completely missing the point, as usual. The question is JR Smith better than Chase Budinger? The answer is absolutley. You can question his attitude all you want, but almost EVERY championship team had a player who's "attitude" came into question. BOTTOM LINE:You will never win a championship with a whole team of Shane Battier's. Maybe DaDakota might be satisfied with a team like that, but most Rocket fans wanna see players with actual talent on the team (Ex: The Mavs, Lakers, Heat, Bulls & OKC)
Whether we are a growing team or a contending team, trading Budinger for Smith is a horrible idea. If Carmelo comes in that package, you do it in a heartbeat. Smith may be a problem off the court and even on the court, but no one could negate the talent he brings. Not to mention, he plays off the bench in Denver, and that has been going well for both the team and for himself.
Look, it is not about how high you jump or whether you can put the ball in the basket. A basketball team is a balancing act, people like JR SMith and JR Rider, are team killers. They can not be relied upon, they can not be counted on, they eventually kill any chance at success. Sometimes, if you have a very strong leadership base, they can help...if they are focused.....Dennis Rodman etc..... But JR Smith has NEVER been focused ever, he is a 100% certifiable dumbass. And whether he is better than Chase individually or not, he is worse for the team. If you believe adding him will help, then you are just flat out wrong. DD
Just because he believes in something different from you does not make him wrong. Statistically, Smith is the better player. As for reality, since Smith has never played for the Rockets, who can say? Besides, how many times have you been wrong or continue to obsess over things that could have happened but didn't?
Yes, it does make him wrong, JR Smith is wrong for the Rockets team, and there is no other answer. Not on this one. The guy killed a man, he just choked another player, he is simply about as dumb as a box of hammers, and has no concept of team basektball, and makes Von Wafer look like Einstein. It is ok to be wrong, trust me, I know...but in this matter, I am 10000% right. DD
Yeah, I didn't see this in the chain, but from ESPN Insider: I'll pass. I think we can get Melo if we take Smith but then we will simply waive him. I cannot see us even flying him down to Houston.
I am not saying if Smith is a correct choice or not. I actually believe he wouldn't be a good fit. What I am saying is there is no way you can know if he is right or wrong until it actually happens and if it doesn't no one will ever know. That is HIS opinion and you have yours. At this point in time neither is "right" or "wrong" and his is worth as much as yours or mine.
