But Rick doesn't seem to like these players who ignore his offense. Like Wafer, Artest, and Ariza...where are all of them at now?

All guys who took it upon themselves to jack up a shot when they felt like it.

Maybe we can get a 3rd team with an incompetent GM like Minnesota or Memphis to give us a pick for him

I think Ron bought in to Rick's offense, but at times, he did take it upon himself to be "the man." I'd say that the majority of players do that at some point in time. You can't be afraid to take a clutch shot.

I agree with you about Ariza, but Morey himself said that he and Rick wanted Trevor to shoot more. The problem was the shot selection. I don't think the amount bothered them as much as the fadeaways and contested threes.

As for "where are they now?"---Artest is fitting into a great role in LA, Trevor may have just found a guard that can set him up better than AB and Wafer is playing for the Celtics.

JR has limitless range. If he can buy in, even as much as Ron, he could be deadly on this team.

Again, he's not my favorite guy, but he is talented.

Rick gave all those guys playing time, and made Ron, Bonzi and Von Wafer very effective...

Von Wafer Is a VERY, VERY, VERY poor man's version of Earl Smith. Off the bench, I think Earl would be fine If Melo came with him.

Shooting 5-6 threes a game for his career, he shoots 43% from the field, which is not bad at all.

    Career EFG
    eFG=546

    Aaron Brooks EFG=538

He is an very good player. A guy you want on your team?

    Depends on the team...

I actually think he may be something we need. Like you said, a Vernon Maxwell type presence. We have the veteran leadership and a top 5, very experienced, coach.

    Do. Not. Want.

Contract + Attitude + Offensive Game = No thank you.

All of these guys seemed to clash with what Adelman wanted, and also...JR Smith seems to have a bigger ego than each of them, even Artest. Artest did what he had to do because he thought it was best for the team. He goes to the lakers and takes a smaller role and does so...because of the team. Artest really wasn't this big ego maniac like everyone makes him out to be. He just...didn't understand at times I suppose...and maybe the guy is just a little crazy lol.

Wafer had several clashes with the coach...and that's after Adelman pretty much made his career by giving him a shot in the first place.

Ariza, I guess you have a point that the Rockets wanted him to take a lot of shots.
But Smith has had his problems in Denver, I think he'd clash with Adelman. I'm willing to bet he'd clash if he did come here. He doesn't seem like the

That's the big problem with JR.
"If" he can buy in. If he doesn't then he's a nuisance to the team and will hurt the team every time he touches the court with his lack of effort and bad decisions. This plays into being a player, this is why I'd rather have Chase or Manu coming off my bench than JR Smith...also that I feel they are more complete players.

He has talent but what does he really do with it besides being a role player for the Nuggets? He's never taken that next step yet, and it's hard to say he's going to take it suddenly after playing 6 years in the NBA. I think we've seen all we can see about him although he's like 25. Look at what other HSers were doing their 6th year in the Pros...I think he's pretty close to his ceiling despite his age.

I don't think Melo really factors into this, that they are trading JR separately.

Really it comes down to who would you rather have. JR Smith or Chase.

JR needs to go to a team like the Wizards or something, he needs to play with a pass first PG. Not someone like Brooks, Brooks works with Martin because Martin is more of an off ball player than on it.

I'm curious why you didn't just say, "I saw Chase play last year..."

I wouldn't mind having Smith if Martin is traded but I would rather go with needs over wants. We need a shotblocker and the Birdman is the perfect weakside shotblocking presence adjacent to Yao.

The guy called out Carmelo Anthony. You don't call out the best player on your team unless u can do something to back it up.

Martin's the one who fits in perfectly with RA. I'd be very disappointed if we lost him in this trade, and I don't think we will, if the trade goes down.

As for J.R. Smith, his disruptiveness overshadows his talent to the point where it isn't worth it. This is what makes him different from, say, a Ron Artest. I don't think Smith would make the team better in the end. I'd rather see the Rockets try to work out a deal where he ends up somewhere else.

It's one year. I would do it to have Carmelo for however many years he has left plus the extension.

I see it going two ways:

He gives it his all because he is in a contract year and this motivation might actually help a guy like JR Smith.

    OR

Jermaine Taylor might have to fight for some PT against JR down in the Rio Grande.

If we get Birdman, I will have found one Rocket to hate. Never has that happened. Well, Scottie Pippen, but "Pigeonman" is an overpaid scrub.

After living in Denver, you'd understand to. Nugs fans worship that douche for all of his Kardashian-esque posing and averaging one dunk per game.

i would LOVE to have JR Smith. hes a straight up baller. one thing i think is underrated about him is just how hard he plays. he really gives a lot of effort on both ends but it largely goes unnoticed. if we got melo and JR no doubt this team is going to the finals. denvers offense is all one on one stuff, so imagine how efficient these guys could be under adelmans offense. just plain SICK

yeah lets get both of em on the team but can't have JR by himself
