I miss it too, I think we should be permanently retro until we make the 2nd round.

    Today we go Retro...
August 2, 1993: GREATEST DAY IN ROCKET HISTORY
No, no, no ... not Ralph's shot, or the day we drafted Hakeem. Not the trade for Moses and no, not the championships either. That's right. On this day in 1993, just 3 days after Les Alexander purchased the team, the Rockets acquired the rights to Mario Elie from the Portland Trailblazers for a second round draft pick. A second rounder! Mario's guts and tenacity showed early as he played ball with a broken hand and wasn't afraid to get physical. He won us over so much we dedicated the early years of the site (Clutch City '97) to the man. In honor of the acquisition of Mario, we go retro.

    Bob McNair?

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/hotstories/6042187.html

Houston-based Reliant Energy, citing credit market turmoil and the impact of Hurricane Ike, said today it is in search of a buyer.

In a statement this morning the wholesale and retail electric giant said it is exploring "strategic alternatives," a phrase that generally means a company is either looking to be bought or to sell off a large part of its assets.

Reliant appointed a special committee of the board of directors for the task and hired Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs & Co. as advisers.

Reliant put their name on the building. That makes Bob McNair poor?

Reliant touched you in a bad way or something? I always see you dogging Reliant.

Besides, some other schmuck company will put their name on the building.

What is sad is that Rosenfels did something very similar on that first down we got close to the goal line. He almost had that ball stripped clean. It's also sad that we could've been 2-2 and had the momentum to go on a 3 game winning streak at home. 5-2 sounds a lot better than 3-4 (and 3-4 probably won't happen now).

I hope we can draft a stud in the secondary. Though I'll be honest I dislike our QBs, I don't think I can let another 3 years pass by for "development." Thank God the Rockets season is almost here. The Texans had a Cubs-like choke job here.

He did a nice job almost all game, by not doing any mistakes until the final part of the game.
So lets start Sage, but in the 4th quarter, put Schaub on the game :D :p

Sage tried to do too much .. . why
cause HE FELT HE HAD TO . .
Sage will never be the starter by being good
or even better than the current started
The TEXANS have told him that all the time he been
    here

SORRY SAGE you maybe better than Carr
but We pay him a BOAT LOAD of money and he is the FACE OF THE FRANCHISE
The only what you will start while he is here. . is if he is hurt PERIOD
so . . no matter how good you look . . it is not going to happen
    then
    They bring in Schaub
SORRY SAGE . .you will never start because we gave him a boat load of money
invested two picks .. and we don't wanna look like fools
doing that got a guy . . that the guy we had is better than
    so
the only way you will start is if he is hurt. .. PERIOD
you have NO SHOT at the starting position . . PERIOD
    BTW
we not going to trade you somewhere you can start either
cause we know you are good . . .

    So
after hearing that for the last few years
he figure the only way to start is to get fan support on his side
so he went on trying to make the most of his ONE start
He over did it. . . i understand what he was trying to do . ..

Some say he was 'selfish' trying to be the hero
well . .being a GOOD SOLDIER ain't really done him much good
why should he. . his time will come??? no it won't
He has NO SHOT at the Starter spot and NEVER HAS . . .

I still think he better than Schaub
If he didn't feel he had to be SUPERMAN just to get some field time
I bet he does not make those attempts at spectacular plays

    Rocket River
    new to the resume . . . . .Sage APologist :D

you know what, yes, sage lost that game. but, it wasn't b/c he wasn't trying. i'm not going to fault the guy for wanting to end the game by trying to get the first down. if he doesn't fumble, we're talking about how gutsy and tough he is.

watching that offense was a lot of fun.

Actually, we'd probably be saying "What an idiot. Thank Jebus he didn't fumble the ball."

The fact is, it was a stupid play, period. Slide, punt, play defense.

He didn't fumble when he stretched out for the first down by the goal line earlier in the game and i know I sure as hell wasn't calling him gutsy. It was dumb then and even the announcers said he was lucky. Same thing when he tried to Jim Brown his way for a couple extra yards.

Also, Who the hell said he was trying to lose the game? We all know he didn't do it on purpose. What possible difference does that make. How often to athletes try to lose? Let's pat him on the back for not purposefully sabotaging the team.

If he THOUGHT he had to do that then he's an idiot. He wasn't leading a comeback. This wasn't John Elway marching his team down to get a late come from behind win.

The man was the QB of the team with the 10 point lead (at that point) with roughly 3-4 minutes left in the game. Running clock is all that matters at that point. What ultimately happened had never happened before in the NFL. It was dumb and it was indefensible.

    Quoted For Truth.

Sage did what most HS quarterbacks know not to do. It was inexcusable.

Sage had 15 turnovers in 9 games last year. Schaub had 10 in 11 games. There is the diff you have got to protect the ball. Sage is a turnover machine thats why he has been in the league 9yrs and has never been a starter.
