We just learned why RosenFAIL is a career backup and always will be. I'm still not sold on Schaub long term, but Sage should not see the field again this year. Win this game and you have Miami, Cincy, and Detroit...all at home...with a great chance to be 4-3. Nope. RosenF***up hands them 2 tds.

Someone should make one of those motivational posters with one of his idiotic plays on it with the saying../

    BACKUP

When you, and only you, can blow a 27-10 lead with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Comparable to choking a 17 point lead in the last 5 minutes of the game.

no, that i don't remember. i was just a lot more emotionally invested in the oilers, so it felt far worse. they were the team i grew up watching. i've come to realize that if the texans had been given the oiler names and colors, i wouldn't be missing a beat with them....like the browns in cleveland. i realize that sounds silly because it's just a name...and they're just colors...but i think it's true.

Contrast this with last week... Schaub looks good the ENTIRE game, and actually LEADS his team to a comeback game-tying FG on the road against a tough defense. Only reasons they don't win that game is because of the awful defense and the awful coaching decision on the fake-punt... not because Schaub failed to execute.

Hell, you can make the case that Schaub was BETTER than Sage, against a tougher opponent, on the road... but in the end, they both lost and nothing else really matters.

Yes Sage is still a decent QB.. a decent BACKUP QB. Schaub, while less mobile and more sack-prone, is still the guy who has more potential to grow.... also, right now, his throws are more accurate, he's got decent arm strength, and he can still command respect of his teammates (which was the first thing that Carr lost). Sage is who he is... he's not going to get much better (and can apparently only get worse with playing time).

But, we're back to that age-old mantra... this whole situation is not close to being the biggest problem on this team. They still can't overpower other teams at the lines, they still lack any sort of identity on offense or defense, and their coaching staff's inexperience is starting to look more and more like part of the problem rather than a solution.

I thought so too at one point... but given the fact that there's no more Astrodome, no more Bud Adams, and the fact that the Titans would still exist would likely play a role in my mind.

Hell, even I don't look or get the same feeling from the Cleveland Browns simply because there's no more Cleveland municipal stadium, the dawg-pound is now subdued from years of losing, and hell... the weather even seems warmer there now. This was a team I grew up loathing... and wanted them to lose every week no matter who they were playing. Of course, losing changes a whole lot of that in and of itself (man, the NFL will likely re-adjust their expansion rules for LA... given how Cleveland and Houston faired after their reaction to the Carolina and Jacksonville success).

No matter how much we truly root for laundry (which we all do), it still would have been different... the only thing that likely stays the same is the "inept" and "choke" labels that have followed this new team. And to think, so many of us were relieved at having finally having a team that seemed to do things the "right" way, and no longer had all those years of miscues attached to them. Very funny.

Did anyone notice that whenever the Texans scored, Sage immediately walked off the field, never congratulating anyone? Not to pick on the guy any more than need be but I bet the other players wouldn't be as pissed off at him for throwing the game away if he'd been a little more of a team player earlier.

Sage played well most of the game. He put the team in a good position which he went and blew, but when the texans had the ball at the colts 40 and up by 10 they should have run the ball. I think he is better than shaub, he doesn't get sacked and he did well passing.

He gives himself a chance to make more throws... but as far as actually making the throws where they need to be, Schaub has him beat. Sage almost got AJ killed on a couple of late reads over the middle, he missed a couple of WIDE open quick-outs, and he had the WTF interception.

Also, there's the question of confidence. When Sage had it, he was rolling. When he lost it... he looked WORSE than Schaub looked in weeks 1 and 2. What if this performance, and the upcoming week of ridicule, ruins Sage to the point where it looks like he has the yips to run and is afraid to make throws in the pocket?

Just breaking it down now... Schaub needs solid protection more than Sage does, but they both could use a better o-line regardless. Sage could use Schaub's intellect. Schaub, for now, could use Sage's pocket presence (which may wither away if he takes more hits/makes more mistakes as the starter).

Ian Howfield was just a bad kicker, it wasn't choking, it was sucking.

Maybe Sage can start, and then Matt can be "the closer."

It's about time we promote Owen Daniels from third quarterback to starting quarterback.

I thought he did a great job of getting the ball where he wanted except at the end, but at that point I think he was probably was in shock.

He did, for the most part... but not more-so than Schaub was able to do last week against Jacksonville.

And, the "shock" thing IS a big deal. We now see what Sage is capable of when things go south (which hasn't happened to him that much in his breif time with the Texans). Schaub, on the other hand, turned it around after two weeks of tough tough defensive matchups.

Texans are in an odd situation.

Clearly Schuab and Rosenfels should not be in the long term plans. But I cant see this team being so bad when they land a top a top 5 pick or so to grab a top qb.

I have no idea how we're going to ever get a decent qb in here.

That's the second most disappointing Oilers loss that I can remember next to Buffalo.
