I agree. Artest would be used as pf in certain matchups only. I love his flexibility. It provides depth in 3 different positions. I could see lots of different lineups based on circumstances. Alston T-Mac Artest Landry/Dorsey Yao Alston Artest Battier Landry/Dorsey Yao Alston T-Mac Battier Landry/Dorsey Yao T-Mac Artest Battier Landry/Dorsey Yao At times, you could even go with a super athletic run and gun lineup like: Alston t-Mac Artest Landry/Battier Dorsey
i remember about 4 or 5 months ago people were telling me that Artest was garbage...i lol'd... hopefully my dream comes true...
I wouldn't say that. If you look at the history of the franchise, we've been both incredibly lucky with the draft and have pulled off some truly blockbuster deals. There are a lot of NBA teams that can't say the same, or say that they've won two back-to-back championships.
Artest would be awesome, but I would give up Scola. I think it would need to be Battier and some others, but why think about throwing Scola away when Landry isn't for sure and Dorsey hasn't played a game for us yet?
i would do it all day... i would terribly miss what Shane brings to not only this team, but to the entire city...but it's a business with one common goal: to win a Championship
Good point. I forgot to mention how we could use Artest at the 2 as well. A player like Artest adds A LOT of flexibility to the lineups you can put out there.
I would do this deal. But if I'm Morey I try to keep Battier if possble. I know he would be the guy Sac wants but I would offer Brooks, Head Jackson and all 3 draft picks for next year to see if they will bite.
I'm saying the same thing.. are these guys representing themselves? If he has one, Artest should fire his agent asap!
The stars could be lining up for a trade guys. http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/archives/013679.html Still looking to deal While there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Geoff Petrie intends to trade Ron Artest as soon as possible given Ron-Ron's recent outburst and dissatisfaction with his contract situation, don't expect anything to happen before the July 9th signing date. Petrie won't make a move until Beno Udrih formally rejoins the Kings. But that doesn't mean he hasn't compiled a trade wish-list or begun entertaining offers. The same teams that were intererested in Artest before he committed to the final year (and $7.4 million) of his contract continue to find him appealing, especially in light of his expiring contract. The Lakers, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, among others, will be exchanging phone calls with in the near future. Who was it that Sac wanted in rumored trade last year? It was Brooks for those who dont know. Now look at this. http://www.boston.com/sports/basket...get/?rss_id=Boston.com+--+Boston+Celtics+news While Cassell has said he expects to return, a source close to the situation said Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas also have interest in his services. Bartelstein said the Celtics seem interested in bringing back another one of his clients, House, but other teams are interested as well. Bartelstein also said Pollard is recovering well from surgeries on both ankles that ended his season prematurely and still wants to play next season. Wonder whos place Cassel would be taking? Brooks maybe? Keep them fingers crossed fellows.
I'd sign Landry for maybe 4M for 3 years then: Carl Landry (BYC therefore only 2M counts towards trade) Bobby Jackson (Expirer) Aaron Brooks Memphis 2nd Rounder Future 1st rounder for Ron Artest (and give him a nice extension) C: Yao / Deke / Dorsey PF: Scola / Hayes / Dorsey SF: Artest / Battier / Greene SG: McGrady / Barry (signed) PG: Alston / Cassell (?) I'm sure we could pull off another deal, but I think that would be a decent line up.
i'm still keepiong my fingers crossed... hopefully my dream will come true...with Artest we're bound to get outta the 1st round... and EVEN IF TRACY OR YAO go down with an ijury Artest is a leader...he may not have led the Kings in scoring last year but he was "the man" in crunch time and fired up his teammates... Artest will take an entire defense to the rack if he has to...he is NOT afraid to penetrate and get to the line wether it be in the first quarter or with 3 minutes left in the game when their down by 4... Artest is what the Rockets need, period...
Your dream isn't. No way we get him now. Am I the only one on this forum that wants the Rockets to hold still for atleast another year. If we can resign Landry I would be happy for the offseason. Getting Barry would be a bonus.
We have a better chance of getting him now than ever. And why hold still for another year while every other team in our division is looking to get better? If we can improve our roster without giving up our core players why wouldnt yo want to do that?
Fo r the Rockets that'd indicate a trade deadline move of expiring contracts + young potential/draft pick. I think the Rockets need to get in earlier, seek a contract extension prior to S&T. Giving up Battier to do this is worth it.
