Sorry dufus, Democrats already tried to pass single-payer universal care in the early '90s. The Affordable Care Act incorporates Republican ideas as an improvement on that earlier attempt. A sitting President and a long-term Senator are far more powerful and influential than the leadership or entire membership of any college eating club they joined in the their twenties. This is what goofballs like you don't understand about how power and influence reflects individual accomplishments, not just a pretext for resenting certain social classes.
