Would still take him for KD, depending on the level of draft compensation involved. Mitchell is not good enough to be the best player on a championship team, but he's closer than anybody we have right now. I think KD for Mitchell moves us in the right direction in terms of value, and gives us a more-credible centerpiece for a future trade for either a young star or rebuild level draft capital. These kinds of moves are basically how we ended up landing Harden.

I don't think I'd give up Sengun for Mitchell at this point, except maybe if there are no draft picks involved. And definitely not Amen.

Why would the Cavs trade Mitchell for 2 more years of ancient KD?

if Mitchell is gone, they’re blowing that whole thing up…not paying all that luxury tax to be an even worse team

We would have to include draft picks obviously. The idea from their perspective would have to be, either Mitchell wants out or they just decide it's never going to happen and it's time to move on or both--but get some draft capital for the impending rebuild, and be competitive at least one more year with Harden / KD, then blow it up when they leave or retire.

Shrug. I don't think it's a very likely scenario but I can see it penciling out depending on what specifically Cleveland wants back.

I like this point... he's not the guy, but he may be the guy that gets us the guy.

I feel like our only chance to beat OKC/SA over the next 3-5 years is if Ant forces a trade and we somehow land him. Could Mitchell be the guy to help make that pipedream a reality?

Harden is the ultimate shield, because the media has been largely focused on his play while Mitchell stinks it up as the #1 option and franchise player in his prime

Harden has been very solid this series aside from the turnovers against the Pistons 2nd ranked defense…Mitchell meanwhile with B2B hideous scoring games while being a cone on defense

Mobley too…making all this money, and often invisible…but there is zero smoke for him

Mobley and Allen aren’t even averaging 7 boards a game

Cavs play double-bigs and are still soft in the paint and on the glass

As much as Jalen ended up sucking ass, at least we're not the team with a lanky stiff on a supermax

Sorry, but if I'm the Rockets I'm not buying vets, I'm selling them. I don't see anyone out there right now who can get us past SA or OKC. Better to wait those teams out for a few years, let aprons and maybe injuries take their toll, and collect extra picks in the meantime in the hope of striking it rich or maybe finding the next Jalen Williams.

"It might sound obvious (and it is), but scoring efficiently against Wembanyama is pretty much impossible unless you have five respectable shooters on the court."

Another reason to not shower Amen with money this summer.

I don't like the idea of trading for Mitchell.

Cleveland would want KD and assets. That's a not go for me.

I'd rather have multiple smaller contracts that I could move for additional assets.

The deals we've talked about from Miami (best one I think), GSW, Detroit, Charlotte or Orlando where these teams send multiple contracts as well as a draft pick(s) in return.

Those are far better options to me than adding a dude on a supermax that would be near impossible to move mid season.

Donovan Mitchell averaged 21 shots a game these playoffs to score 26 points

old ass Harden for comparison was taking 14 shots to score 20

Mitchell also only managed 3 assists a game and almost as many turnovers

he’s basically the SG version of KD, but way less efficient…and he wants a major extension

he’s just a scorer with tunnel vision, and nothing else
