As was stated before, what you are suggesting is exactly what Kanter did.

IMO, Donovan said "can't blame Kanter", as that makes the most sense. Beverley was the key in that play, blowing past his defender, for essentially a 2 on 1 fast break, even before Capela was close to set the pick . Kanter either played the ball or stayed home, and either way, he was f#%$ed.

I think that media and fan wise there is an enormous underestimation of how much skill truly is a part of Harden's game. The common consensus is "he just flops; he can't score that much in the playoffs cause refs swallow their whistles ". They really believe his game is nothing but running full speed and flailing, as if anyone could do what Harden does if they were "shameless" enough to want to.

For anyone that believes this garbage check out some of these player mixes made by a pro skills coach:

It's difficult for me to keep track of the PnR coverages these teams use on us during the initial watch of the game the way I can with other teams I have no rooting interest in. I get too caught up in the action to be able to recall. Have to go back and watch; would love to see the clips you have put together.

Aside from this type of defense though, some things I see us having in our favor:
    1. Its much harder to Ice a high center PnR rather than a wing PnR (This didn't matter in the original play of this thread though because it was wing PnR)
    2. Anderson makes the PnP possible so either big out there can get thrown into the fray if the other teams defense is switching; Harden can go after the weaker defender of the two
    3. I believe I saw Lou-Harden PnR last night in garbage time. Definitely something that could be useful against GS to get Curry in foul trouble or Klay/Green off of Harden.
    4. Anderson has finally achieved the rep of extreme range, those wide open drives Harden was getting last night were a side effect of Anderson's man staying glued to him.

I wonder why the defense doesn't do this more. The guard should go underneath, cutting off the drive. In fact, if Capela is not careful, he could run into the guard and get an offensive foul.

If I were the other team, I'd much prefer Harden shooting wide open shots than going to the rim.

    ooo,,,ooo...!!Rising my hand to explain!!

Guards can't go underneath in the OP vid. He's already too far out. This is a high PnR....not a Stockton/Malone PnR where the pick starts within the arc and the pick is from the side. Often the High PnR pick is more of a back pick, than a side pick.

Also, Capela repicks for Harden if needed. And we have the 3-man game PnR with Ariza or Ryno picking for the picker. It is very easy to prevent going under, and it's not that great of an option, anyhow.

So defensive 3 seconds is not a thing?
The suggestion is they play Sonics basketball...
Play illegal defense all game and force the refs to call it

How about sagging more? In the OP vid, the guard doesn't have to come up to Bev until he gets close to the 3pt line. He's not going to shoot from that far out. Just stay close to Capela's side and watch which way the ball handler goes. The big man can't move or he'd risk being called illegal screen. This would at least force the offense to send a second picker.

No, that is 100% false, Kanter came out and switched on the PNR, I am saying stay in the paint.....

Well you can stand on the edge of the paint and still close the gap in time and not get a Defensive 3 second call.

After slowing down and analyzing the video, he clearly told Mo' " I want to go home." Probably was the best idea he had all game 1

I also saw an interview last week where Donovan said that the locker room was "generally" excited for Westbrook's chances at getting the MVP. I just laughed because although he meant it to be a positive comment, it actually revealed that there must be a few guys that don't really like Westbrook.

The Thunder bigs forgot how to grab rebounds. They spent the whole season practicing boxing out for Westbrook. The Rockets figured out how to sneak in and take 14 offensive rebounds from them.

People are trying to get you to watch the play in the OPs video. The one we are talking about

Are you saying that is a PnR switch by Kanter?

Sonics ball is doubling a big. That's what teams do against Rubio and Towns.

We are talking about the PnR defense in the video provided. That is a sagging big not coming out to guard the PnR, while other stay at home with their three pt shooting assignments

I have watched Kanter since his Jazz days.

Some guys just dont have the acumen or the legs to play defense.

Kanter is one of those guys.

The dude has to have the ball passed to him by Westbrook before he can do anything.

In a team with allegedly no talent, Oladipo should be used more, a career 16ppg guy, he is at a career LOW in usage% this year (because Russ gotta get dem statzzz)

Who is the closest thing to Enes Kanter in recent memory in terms of being a big guy who is so good on offense (27% usage rate and .599 TS% this year) and being such a liability on D?

Maybe a non-fat version of Eddy Curry?

Does he just suck on defense so much or is this being highlighted in today's pace-and-space NBA?

    Nah he said

    "Can't BLAME Kanter"

Cause Clint Capela IS A BEAST WHO HAS ALREADY MADE DWIGHT OBSOLETE.

    Good picks.

    Also David Lee.

I have seen this guy purposely step away from the man he is guarding and let him go to basket just so he can have a headstart on the other end.
