i think chef is not aware that even pedro martinez called the yankees his daddy. And of course Boston fans didn't tolerate losing, they just blamed their failures on a silly curse that went back 100 years. :p

Hmmm... something to do with food [check] -- late night (drunken) post [check] -- rambling with an attempt to be insulting [check] -- recent join date due to multiple bannings [check]... mystery solved.

Which they never won. I've met Joe Kapp and he is a very bitter man.

Heck Rockets fans beyatching about how we got screwed by the refs in 2009 are only exceeded by Vikings' fans beyatching about the Vikings Saints NFC championship.

I'm not expecting anything from the Rockets. I can't even watch them on television anyway. As to the Texans, I wanted to believe the hype. At the same time I was caustiously optimistic. I've been watching football a long time. I don't consider myself an expert, but still..there are certain clues a championship team gives that let you know they are going all the way. There's a certain feel. It's hard to explain.

I was looking for all that when they played Green Bay. After they got blown out in that game I knew they probably weren't going all the way this year. Still, I stayed with them. I listened to all the superbowl jibber jabber on sports radio. I watched the NFL power rankings. I was hoping I was wrong. I've been told I can be negative, so I kept my mouth shut, and rode with it. In the back of my mind I knew they weren't going to do much.

I honed my nfl football experiences by primarily watching the Cowboys. Growing up I was a Cowboy fanatic. These days I find them boring. But I did see them when five superbowls. I could tell each time that year was going to be their year. I haven't felt that way about the Texans yet. I don't see it happening anytime sooner either. Hopefully they will prove me wrong. I wouldn't go out and bet the mortgage on it though.

I like the Texans. They're the only team in town. I'm also a realist. I've been doing this too long. Houston is just not a big time sports town. Oh they play sports here and all, but championships are few and far between. Before the Rockets won in '94 and '95 I was beginning to think no team would win big here. I think the Oilers won in the AFL back when nobody cared.

I remember watching George Blanda play QB and kick field goals. I remember seeing all the great names play: Bethea, Kenny Burroughs, white shoes Johnson, Kenny Stabler. I saw Renfro catch a TD pass and get robbed by the ref. Bum talking about kicking the door in the next year...it never happened. I saw Elvin Hayes beat UCLA and Lew Alcindor in the Astrodome in 68. Of course they got beat down by ucla by 31 pts a few months later. Saw Akeem and Clyde lose to NC State in '83.
Then there was the 35 point come from behind lead slip and loss to buffalo. i saw that too. I've been on this band wagon a loong time, probably before you were born.

Then the Texans show up and chose qb David what's his name instead of getting DE Julius Peppers.
They finally drafted JJ Watt to make up for that.

I haven't totally abandoned the Texans. Lord willing when the next season starts I'll be watching. I'll be highly surprised and happy if they make the superbowl next year. Not with Schaub as qb and Kubiak as head coach. I just don't see it happening.

If that is being fair weather so be it. Show me something Texans. I've been waiting a long time.
