Who is this Justin Reed fellow? Apparently, Morey's trying to collect more scrubs to trade. Good idea, but I have no idea who would want him.. Maybe we could trade for Travis Diener or just keep Reed as a backup.

Reed was traded from the C's while Morey was there. So, either DM (wonder what is middle name is??? Albert? Isaac? Ulysses?) knows (or thinks he knows) something positive about the guy or Rox insisted he be included to help fill out salaries for impending splashes er, deals.

JVG was behind Pearl Harbor, Japanese intelligence. And that is not all.

Why do we need Reed, sounds like Chuck Hayes?

Lankier version of Kirk Snyder? According to NBA.com he is 6'9" and almost 240 lbs. That does not sound like a lanker Snyder to me.

I think we can assume that Reed was included to make things more fair to the Wolves, not the Rockets. They wanted to lighten their payroll a little. I don't think it was because we were jonesing for another 12th man.

But, who knows, maybe on the right team, the guy can make an impact. Here's to hoping.

Then Snyder looks like he could be the next guy on a bus out of town.

    FWIW---The T-Wolves' perspective:

    http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/news/wolves_acquire_juwan_howard_070614.html

Minnesota Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale announced Thursday that the team has acquired forward Juwan Howard from the Houston Rockets for guard Mike James and forward Justin Reed.

"Juwan is a veteran low-post player who is a proven scorer and rebounder," said McHale. "He will add needed depth to our front court, and with this move we are balancing out our roster. Juwan also provides a solid locker room presence. We wish both Mike and Justin the best in Houston. Both players have been true professionals while with our organization."

Howard, a 6-9 forward, averaged 9.7 points (.465 FG%, .824 FT%), 5.9 rebounds and 26.5 minutes per game in 80 contests (38 started) in 2006-07 with Houston. He bumped those averages to 13.6 ppg and 6.5 rpg during the 32 games in which Rockets center Yao Ming missed due to injury. Howard finished the season with nine double-doubles and recorded 10 or more rebounds in 11 contests.

For his career, Howard has appeared in 951 games, averaging 16.1 points (.469 FG%, .764 FT%), 7.1 rebounds and 35.1 minutes per game. Originally drafted by Washington fifth overall in the 1994 NBA Draft from the University of Michigan, Howard has played for Washington, Dallas, Denver, Orlando and Houston. In 1995-96, Howard averaged career highs of 22.1 ppg (10th-best in the NBA) and 4.4 apg along with 8.1 rpg, earning him an appearance in the 1996 NBA All-Star Game and All-NBA Third Team honors. He has 188 double-doubles in his career.

James, signed as a free agent by the Wolves on July 13, 2006, averaged 10.1 points (.422 FG%, .372 3FG%), 3.6 assists and 25.2 minutes per game in his lone season with the Wolves in 2006-07. The 6-2 guard has averaged 11.5 ppg, 4.0 apg and 26.6 mpg in 409 games.

Originally acquired in a trade from Boston on Jan. 26, 2006, Reed averaged 4.4 ppg, 1.7 rpg and 12.6 mpg in 81 games (9 starts) over the past two seasons (2005-06 and 2006-07) with the Wolves. The three-year veteran has posted averages of 3.5 ppg, 1.4 rpg and 10.6 mpg in 136 career games.

    this worries me!!

As for reports that James and Wolves star Kevin Garnett didn't click, Duffy said James never mentioned that. But the agent agreed that, on the court, the two weren't a good match. "Mike, in my opinion, has to be aggressive offensively, and I felt like he had to defer to Garnett," Duffy said.

What did mike james think? he was the number one option? Come on, he is soooo overrated. He is going to be a cancer in the club house!!!

from Feigen's blog on the trade:

The deal is done, completed at about 2 p.m. It includes forward Justin Reed. He's a good athlete with a good power forward body. He does not execute well in a precision, play-calling offense, but in a more free-flowing offense, could be a good pickup.

As for the trade kicker, the Rockets pay it, not the Timberwolves as I was told a couple times last night. Once paid, it no longer is part of the contract.

I also believe that Deckard explained the same thing in one of his earlier posts.

i dont really agree with the idea that reed and snyder are similar players. snyder is a guard. reed is a forward. I dont really understand the idea that he replaces snyder in any way. that being said, snyder could be traded but not b/c reed is taking his place.

Didn't see anyone else mention this yet, but if they have, then my bad:

On CBS.Sportsline, the HTML page title (the name of the article, essentially, that pops up when you 'mouse-over' a link to an article, as well as the title of the HTML page when you are actually on that page (up in the blue bar at the top), reads the following:

"Houston Rockets, BRACEY WRIGHT, Juwan Howard, Justin Reed, National Basketball Association.."

Ok, well, it does appear as if the deal is done, and it was just JuHo for MJ and Reed. (Reece? ;) )

Anyway, I was wondering why they would have had Bracey Wright's name in there - it doesn't appear anywhere in the body of the article, but it's the sort of thing that an author would put as a page title while it was being written and edited, as though at the time it was being written, Bracey Wright was also possibly part of the deal.

Has anyone heard anything of this? Or is this just some sloppy website maintenance on CBS' part?

Not that I care about Bracey Wright, I was just curious if his name was ever a part of the discussions as well?

So, a quick intresting add-on the the Mike James trade...Reed?

Here we go, brought to you by the magic of the RealGM forums, for those wondering who Justin Reed is and what he brings to the table.

...I'm kinda liking this myself, goes perfectly with what Adleman and MOrey wanted, an athletic 3/4. Maybe a steal for the Rockets?
