It would be better if the rox start taking basketball players instead of specialist. Think about the multi tool players the rox have drafted recently. Most teams that pick near the bottom pick players to develop. I'm not knocking head or novak, but what can they do if the spot up shot isn't falling? Neither defends, neither penetrates, neither rebounds. If the shot isn't falling or teams aren't leaving them open, they can't contribute. I thought that snyder last season could have or should have been a guy in the rotation. he's the only guy that will or can go to the hoop, but the offense dictate that he's a spot up shooter. If the rox do keep their pick, pick a guy that can contribute in more than more ways than one.

Justin Reed? Does anybody know anything about this guy? What do we need him for? Looking at his profile on nba.com he appears to be a scrub. Has somebody ran his PER numbers? Is he some kind of Morey stat guy or is somebody familiar enough with his game to say if this may be something Adelman wants?

Hope that James attitude and all will be better. It looks like it will be:

James said he didn't have any fun, which for him was the bottom line.

"I'm coming in with a whole new attitude," James said. "I'm going to change my number, if I can. I'm going to change to No. 7 [from No. 13], because it's God's perfect number. I'm going to come in with a whole new approach to life, to everything, the way I approach the game of basketball itself. One thing I'm going to do is have fun. I'm going to smile."

But this quote still bugs me...

As for reports that James and Wolves star Kevin Garnett didn't click, Duffy said James never mentioned that. But the agent agreed that, on the court, the two weren't a good match. "Mike, in my opinion, has to be aggressive offensively, and I felt like he had to defer to Garnett," Duffy said.

Justin Reed averaged 10.6 ppg in the last five games of the season (the only time he played any significant minutes). :)

Well, he is not the best out there, but may be useful for the rockets.

During the season he didnt get much time on the court. But did have 2 decent games at the end of the season. 19pts 3 reb, 17pts 5 rebs.

I dont think its worth gettin him :l

So do we throw in a couple of cases of Valtrex to get this Reed guy?

well if he is tossed in then the rockets could at least get a look at him and cut him if he's not needed.

    reed or a 2nd rounder?

    nope.

too bad we dont have much to add in to get their young talent Craig Smith.

He has been putting up some pretty consistent numbers after the all star break. He would be the young talented PF that the rockets are looking for, but cant afford.

potential to be a 15 pts, 10+ reb player consistently.

I would take a second rounder over reed anyday. i mean good players have come out the the second round and with a deep draft thats even more likely to happen.

at least that way you take a chance at a "potential", i think reed doesnt really have alot of that.

Hey, there's no reason to pile on. The management has done great drafting and bad drafting. They've made good trades and bad ones. They've signed good contracts and bad ones. Its been a mixed bag. I didn't quite understand Les's effect in that until this whole thing went down with JVG. I didn't realize how many deals he probably screwed up. Now, it makes more sense.

CD is a good ole' boy. He's a good horsetrader, but does what his boss tells him, while trying to please the coach, and keep the players loyal and happy. That's a mixed bag. I think Morey may be good at finding the hidden talent, but I have no idea how good he'll be at negotiations. But, he'll still have Les pulling the strings.

On the other hand, Les has never shied away from doing something risky, or going after the big play. Sometimes it's worked, sometimes it hasn't.

As far as Griffin, almost everyone applauded that deal, although with some reservations. We went for the guy who had the talent of a potential All-Star, but there was a reason he dropped, and it turned out to be what destroyed his value. Sometimes you take those risks and come out ahead. (At the time, though, I did commiserate on the possibility of getting Jefferson, Randalf and I think Gerald Wallace. I thought he was going to be hot. I also wondered about Tinsley, but had no clue about Parker or Arenas. I even wanted Morris.) We didn't win on that one. We didn't on the Quitten deal, and IMHO, also on the Barkley deal. But, we did on Drexler and others.

We have the double edged sword of staying with some guys too long. We are loyal, which is good, but we believe our own sales pitch, and don't trade up sometimes when we should. I would have been happy to trade Griffin the next year to get the #8 pick from LAC and taken Stoudamire. I really wanted Stoudamire that year, and would have done anything short of Yao or Francis to get there. I would have been happy to trade Griffin to get a few other players in the following years, that were conditional on his being in the deal, and we could have gotten something for him. Same thing with Sampson. But, we waited until he had no value left at all, before letting him go. On the other hand, we did move Francis before he lost his value, and just moved Howard before his was gone. It's a mixed bag. But, often, we just don't do that extra little thing that gets us someone like Oneal in the Quitten trade, or TMac in the first attempted trade with Toronto, or a kicker with James.

We also don't provide the supplemental support we need to, IMHO. We did with Yao, but why don't we do that with all our players, especally guys we are concerned with drugs. It's like we're clueless. You'd think we'd have learned with Lucas and Wiggins. I'd have hired Lucas long ago, and maybe Griffin, Taylor and Cato would have turned out. We should have done what we did for Yao for VSpan, and even Tsak. We spend huge money on contracts, and then don't protect or develop our investments, then lose it all ... stupid.

It just seems that for every good deal, they do a bad one. It is what it is. We do seem to get lucky, though ... :) ... even though they've screwed up so much, we are still close to being a contender ... and that's pretty amazing.
