[Done Deal] Rockets dealing Juwan Howard for Mike James

One step up in talent; one step down in brains.

I like this trade, but I hope this isn't the first indication of a trend to move from "good locker room presence" to "bunch of knuckleheads."

We now also have a huuuuge gaping hole at power forward, but at least the hole at point guard has more or less been filled.

 

I am not so sure that James is the entire answer at PG. I hope we can still pull a trade for more of a playmaking guard and younger!! I think we are definitely in better shape now but if the ball hog in James can be toned.

Brains? I was unaware that Alston was a MENSA member, otherwise he might have considered not smashing the team record for three pointers last year.

Maybe Adelman foresee's James as his Bobby Jackson, assuming Rafer remains the starter.

Can we please not laugh at management for making this U-turn? Admitting and correcting mistakes should be encouraged. I'm not a Mike James fan, but those of you who are -- and are angry that we didn't offer him the extra cash or accept this trade during the season -- should celebrate and applaud the front office for coming around.

Also, please don't assume that we'd have been better off taking on James' contract while keeping Howard at the same time. There's a reason the Magic included Howard and his contract in the McGrady deal.

Maybe instead coming up with caustic comments, you should learn to read. "One step up in talent, one step down in brains" implies a coming-and-going or tradeoff of sorts. Last I checked, Alston isn't the one who's leaving.

Say what you will about Howard, but he has significantly more basketball IQ and a better overall understanding of the game than James will likely ever have.

 

The Rockets are obviously going to use Rafer or Billy in a trade. I'm praying that is Rafer.
