Is that $5.6 million pre-trade-kicker? I believe the kicker increases James' salary by 15%, which would put him at $6.44 million. I don't know if it is even necessary, since I think the matching was made looser -- 25%. Juwan makes 21% more than James.

But, they are talking about putting more guys in the deal, which I do think is very interesting. I'm sure they'll be fodder. What fodder on the Wolves roster might we be interested in?

And after the trade they STILL desperately need help at both the PF & PG positions. James is more of a SG than a PG. He's definitely not the answer to Nash, Parker, Williams, Harris and Paul - all premier PGs they have to contend with in the Western Conference.

Had breakfast before the start of last season with JVG, about one hour of discussion of the team, when asked what additions he would like he said he would like to see us get Mike James. He said he brought an edge and toughness the team needed. I asked him if James and Tracy had a problem. I told him that Tracy several times looked pissed at James for not passing the ball and jacking up shots in the Dallas playoff series.

JVG said it was more of just a competitive thing, and that they had put any issues behind them, he said Tracy would be fine with James-- He never said it was an out of control rumor, he distinctly said it was a minor issue and it was handled....

I just am of the opinion that James got cross with Tracy during that series and I don't want it to happen again.

justin reed makes the closest to that amount...1.3 mill but im not familiar with him.

If yuo throw in suras contract then you get pretty close to hassell's contract amount. He would be the best, legit , sg on the rockets (tmacs a natural 3 in my mind)

but to be honest there isnt much else on that team that really excites me outside of KG.

side note...i cant believe jaric's deal.

Actually this comment makes you sound stupider than ever. What you and others neglect to see is this trade is more about getting rid of JHO and not so much about James. Getting rid of Juwan almost anyway you can is a good move. Getting rid of JHO and upgrading your point guard is a bonus. I am sure the Rockets would have released him without getting anything in return if they could have. Yes he had some periods of decency this past season. But when it counted he did nothing. With him gone the Rockets are now forced to find a replacement PF. That's a good thing and not stupid. JVG authorizing the renewal of JHO's contract is a stupid thing.

to be realistic the rockets arent going to get "an answer" for those pgs..

harris...you mean devin harris? i dont think he even deserves to be mentioned with those other guys, at least not at this point in his career.

Shhhhhh, don't let anyone know that or we might not get anything in return for him :)
Juwan will be an excellent one /two punch with Garnett. His veteran leadership is much needed in a team that lacks experience, combine that with a midrange jumpshot that is nearly unguardable...the T-wolves are getting the steal of the century!

First, it is a great trade, it should be happened in Feb. Secondly, Rox needs let eveyone know Rafer is a great leader in NBA, also the top five PG, then we can trade him to Minn for Floye. HaHaHa.

Which Mike James will we get?

    2004-2005
    2005-2006
    2006-2007

    ??

I like this move, but caveat it by saying that I'd have prefered Mo Williams at MLE money because Mo is much much younger, and has improved every year. If he signs for MLE or less money (unless it is staying in Milwaukee), I'll be dissapointed.

This also seems to be a clear sign that management is trying to decide what they need in the draft. It seems like they're either going big, or trading.

Also, unless you think Mike James was going to get us the Championship last year, I can't fault management too much.

THis way, we have Mike James, the incredible, ever growing talent potential of V-Span, and Bonzi Fatburger (if he comes back), plus a new coach (which is a good thing, if you were for that move...)

I concur! Cutting back Juwans minutes is a good thing. And now they will be cut back to zero.

Cannot Blame this one on Van Gundy - Juwan Howard's contract was in place before he came here. I think Van Gundy should get props for getting so much out of Juwan Howard-enhancing his trade value- Thanks JVG for getting Mike James back for us!

    go Rockets!!!

JVG has been this team's downfall... I remember back when he punched Rudy T in the face and basically ended his career... or the time he dealt drugs to ruin John Lucas, Mitchell Wiggins, and Lew Lloyd to blow up what could've been the greatest Rockets team ever assembled... and no peace will come between Israel and the rest of the Middle East until JVG is GONE.

    ;)

Getting anything for Jho is awesome at his age.

But what we got is a backup pg. Now we have two backup pg's and one developing one, and one undersized one. At least we don't have to make Luther Head into a pg anymore.

Yeah and you forgot to mention 911 Columbine and Baby Jessica. All JVG's fault!

By the way Donkey Magic you are right he signed that contract in 2003 the year before he was traded. So I extend my apologies to you and JVG lovers all over the world.

It is really a bad move.

Juwan will be an expired contract and then can be an asset for a larger contract that a better talent hold. MJ is not a reliable and not that big talent.

I think Pippen deciding he did not want to be here hurt us more than drafting Eddie Griffin. We got nothing for Pippen-Walt Williams, Kelvin Cato and some scrubs- leading us to more problems as Hakeem's career was coming to a close. We needed a big man really bad. Recall Bill Hurley? Recall Pig Miller?

the management here has made grave errors in the past- you are correct- but I choose to look forward- getting rid on Juwan- a very weak 4 in the West will help. Mike James is not as small or old as David Wesley ws. i think he still has game- he is a tremendous competitor and is built with power.

If we focus on getting an effective 4 who can help Yao- I will be very happy.

I am a season ticket holder who has weathered the difficult periods.

At least we are competive. We were so close to beating Utah and getting in the 2nd round.

Enjoy the team friend and be happy!

By the way - I was a big Kenny Thomas and Othella Harrington fan

were on the verge of sending James to Houston for Howard when the deal fell through on Feb. 22, in part because Houston was reluctant to change the chemistry on a team that wound up overcoming numerous injuries to win 52 games.

    now thats interesting...
