The perceived margin of error at the time was apparently pretty tight.
That said,a competent PF could have been brought in via trade.The door was wide open this year.....Still,perhaps the way this went down extends and enhances our window while sacrificing last year.Bottom line...we did get hit with the injury bug again.I have no doubt that Yao was not 100 %.....
I do believe the Rockets are making some shrewd moves.

Ok so who we gonna trade out to get a Power Forward? Head? Vspan? Battier? Battier is the only trade asset that would allow us to get a major NBA player. If Battier goes, and we get a Power Forward, we trade V-Span, Head, draft pick we could get Artest.

The holdup stems from the possibility that another player or two could be added to the deal, sources say. The teams, though, have verbally agreed to a straight-up exchange of James for Howard at the very least.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets, who have been discussing a Mike James-for-Juwan Howard swap in one form or another since the February trade deadline, have agreed in principle to finally complete that deal this month, ESPN.com has learned.

An announcement of the trade's completion could be made as early as this week, according to NBA front-office sources.

The holdup stems from the possibility that another player or two could be added to the deal, sources say. The teams, though, have verbally agreed to a straight-up exchange of James for Howard at the very least.

"We expect for the deal to be officially consummated as early as tomorrow," James' agent, Bill Duffy told Houston television station KRIV.

Then why the Rockets wouldnt want the no trade clause? Was because that made him un-tradable? This just made me sick. James MLE went for 3 non-ration guys last year, and he should be the difference between us and Utah last year. Shiat, JVG must be screaming right now.
