I must have watched a different playoff series. I remember losing by lots, Mike James getting kicked out of the game after lots of one on one...

It pisses me off when I hear that the reason this didn't happen before the deadline THIS year was JVG.

Great deal in that we fill a major need and dump Howard's salary.

Now let's continue to upgrade our athleticism at the starting 4 and with a backup swingman.

You're talking about Game 7 specifically, which wasn't a good game for James, agreed... but neither was it a good game really for any Rocket.

You misread what I said. In crunch time you should see james(1)-t-mac(2)-shane(3)-?(4)-Yao(5), ie 4 out of 5 starting spots are solid contributors unlike last year when it was 3. This is all barring any other trades of course. That's also why I said they have to address the 4(PF position).

true. regardless I'll take this trade any day. I would love him off of the bench so that we actually have someone who can score when our starters are resting. I don't mind him starting even.

It would be a welcome luxury to have a decent backup no matter who is starting. 45 minutes of Rafer is too much. 15 minutes of Moochie was unbearable... somewhere in the middle makes me happy...

oh yeah quick question is this trade even valid? when does the official trading season start? july 1st? I remember deals being talked about at the end of june (like the tmac trade) but every report i have read said that the deal is closed to being done and it seems like its all but a done deal, but as we all know deals that are not put to paper and inked are not "done deals"

just worried that this deal may fall through a la damon if someone else comes along and offers something a bit more pleasant for the wolves. or is all the paperwork through and its just a matter of waiting till the spurs win to finish up the paper work since the season still is going on?

It is strange that a forum so full of love for fantasy trades would also love trade kickers.

I think you have to keep MJ for 2 or 3 months before trading...

Which means you can trade him before training camp even starts.

i think van gundy said he called off the deal at the time, so that is old news. well either he said it or feigan reported that van gundy shut it down.

the thing is van gundy wanted mike james probably more than clutch dislikes rafer. jvg loves mike james. but the catch is at the trade deadline this team was on fire and juwan howard(along with deke) was a huge factor in surviving without yao ming. looking back we should have made the deal, but i specifically remember most people fairly glad we didn't do it as our chemistry was just right and mike james wasn't really looking so great as a t-pup.

now it's a low-risk move, juwan is washed up and i think mike james bounces back as a rocket.

We just made our weakest link alot stronger without givingup Suras contract or battier. thats a great deal. now i wonder how Rafer will react to this?. one thing is for sure, we got to good PG now.

His signature says it all. He should change his moniker to Debbie Downer, or better yet....Ignore List! ;)

Juwan is Juwan. The main difference is timing... had the trade happened back then, while Yao was STILL out, the Rockets would be rocking a front court of Deke, Jake, Chuck and Kleiza. I believe Deke was dealing with some minor health issue himself (as Jake played some significant minutes for some games).

If you were fighting for the playoffs while your center was still rebabbing, I'm not so sure you would really want to have to rely on two new guys, Jake and Kleiza for half of the game. Juwan was needed, given the lack of bigs on that team back then.

But now, it's different, we got all summer to find another PF, we got all training camp and pre-season to get everyone on the same page, and hopefully Yao is healthy.

Just because it is the right move now doesn't mean it was the right move back then.
